As for the valve cover sand it down starting with 80grit, then 100 gritt then go, 200,400,600(wet),800(wet),1000(wet),1500(wet),2000 (wet), then polish the $hit out of it using Mothers MAG/Aluminum Polish(small red can $6)any local auto shop sells it

Erik, I did mine with sandpaper and my two hands. It isn't perfect or the best looking but there is a shine to it.
