You guys are forgetting a BIG factor here...blackmax is 4-speed AUTO and ethan is 6-speed MANUAL..and ethan has a BRAND NEW tranny and car while blackmax is 7 years old.
I expected him to eat you alive!

Craig, he would have a good race with a stock 5spd max with "average" driver skills. His top end seems a little bit better then a stock 5spd's, I have raced a few 5spd and I pulled more on them. His low end is hindered by the auto though.

Your right, the NEW auto's seem to have very impressive and effecient trannys
BUT, the older maxima's trannys are too soft and squishy

Nothing has really changed with the 2k2 auto tranny. The reason the 2k2 auto is so much quicker is because of the huge jump in torque. When you've got torque with a auto, the gearing advantage of the manual goes out the window. All a tranny does is multiply the torque. When you've got 35-40 more fwtq, you don't need the gearing.

I just need to do more research though, becuase if these High stall TC's were so awesome I bet we would be hearing alot more about them.
Anyways thanks Dave for the info.
