I donno bout that...you MIGHT get close but they will still rape you off the line especially with that lagcharger you have.. they are in most cases about a second faster than auto's and i dont think a few bolt-ons is gonna take a second off your 0-60 or 1/4th

You guys are forgetting a BIG factor here...blackmax is 4-speed AUTO and ethan is 6-speed MANUAL..and ethan has a BRAND NEW tranny and car while blackmax is 7 years old.

I expected him to eat you alive!

Ya it was a fun race bro! Your car has a nice top end, if you get some NOS we will have to do a re-match.

Craig, he would have a good race with a stock 5spd max with "average" driver skills. His top end seems a little bit better then a stock 5spd's, I have raced a few 5spd and I pulled more on them. His low end is hindered by the auto though.

So give us some specifics. A race from what speed? Who got the jump? How much distance? A modded NA auto 4th gen vs a modded 2k2 6 speed just doesn't seem fair

I don't think a modded NA 4th Gen 5spd would have made it fair either LOL

Maybe with that ME/VI??? but time will tell

It was from a dead stop from about 0-90 MPH. The first race he got the jump, I could not hear him counting 1,2,3 over his brake torqueing . The second race I counted and got a little bit of a jump on him and pulled about 4-5 cars by 90 MPH. I pulled mostly from 0-60, after that I just pulled away slowly.

Next time just blow your horn three times to start the race.

Your right, the NEW auto's seem to have very impressive and effecient trannys

BUT, the older maxima's trannys are too soft and squishy

Nothing has really changed with the 2k2 auto tranny. The reason the 2k2 auto is so much quicker is because of the huge jump in torque. When you've got torque with a auto, the gearing advantage of the manual goes out the window. All a tranny does is multiply the torque. When you've got 35-40 more fwtq, you don't need the gearing.

Is that so ? That's awesome...and the only way to do that with our 4th generation maxima's is to get a torque converter ?

To a point, but nothing is better than adding that power to the motor. A quality high stall torque converter that is efficent and will "lockup" halfway thru 2nd gear will add substainal gains to a auto 4th and 00-01 5th gen, but nothing like what an extra 35-40fwtq and added fwhp will do.

Yea.. I need to research torque converters.. but I here they have big negitive downsides like they don't turn off so its always jumpy off the line even if you wanna just cruise..and doesn't it mess with your idle ?

I just need to do more research though, becuase if these High stall TC's were so awesome I bet we would be hearing alot more about them.

Anyways thanks Dave for the info.
