what is the difference between the 5th and 4th gen variable intakes? not trying to sound too ignorant, but since 5th gen's are already making 225-7hp how many 5th gen's are running low 14's or all motor 13's? will this $400+ mod be worth retrofitting for extra power in the narrow upper rpm range? i admire the efforts of the few who are trying to make this work!

Can someone tell me what they think this means?
KIND ATTN: MR. Ian Sweeney
See the prices
cover 225.00
gasket 8.50
GASKET 8.50
MANIFOLD 550.00
REGARDS
JAMSHID.
Also, do we need new plenums or not? I can't figure that out from looking at any of the pictures. I think this guy is either saying what we need is $250, or what we need is $775.00. When he says manifold, I think he means Plenums. When he says cover, I think he means the polished metal on top of the intake.
I just don't know what he means by cover and manifold.
Anyway, I'll try and find out. Somepone please answer the plenum question.

The 5th gen has a better engine . . . PLUS a bigger body. With this manifold, a 4th gen will have probably %95 of the 5th gen engine in a lighter 4th gen body. Result? Untouchable 4th gen that might even hang quite well with the VQ35 5th gen

The VI in the 5th gen was purposely made physically differnet by Nissan. Smart marketing move because they knew that's where the 5th gen got most of its performance boost. If you could drop that on a 4th gen and get the same power, it kinda doesn't make the 5th gen look too good, does it

Hey I got a reponse
Mr. J. Cranfill,
I will collect the required information that you need and send ASAP, however
in the mean time is it possible for you to send the Chassis number and
engine number of the said vehicle - this will make the parts selection
easier.
Karl Clyfton-Myers, Technical Service Manager, Al-Babtain, Kuwait.
Does he just want VQ30DE
What number is he looking for???

there's probably another reason they made them different.
IanS
I don't necessarily agree with that. The average Maxima owner (99.9% of them) is not going to even think about doing it, and if someone did, I don't htink Nissan would care too much.

IanS
How do we really know they are different? Did someone try to put one on, what? I know someone said they are different, but how did that person know? And can anyone else confirm this? And assuming they don't fit, is their an easy way to make it fit?

I've taken a hard look at the 5th gen intake manifold and it won't fit the 4th gen. I compared my 4th gen side by side with Russ's 2001 SE. The 5th gen manifold is too tall and will hit the hood and rear of the manifold will contact the firewall on the 4th gen.
As far as I know, there are no 2000-2001 Maximas remotely close to 13s or low 14s NA. Madmax ran a 14.3 at almost 97mph in his 2000 (Y-pipe/CAI) and that's currently the best. There are 4th gens that running these kinds of ETs and trapspeeds so it's not like the 2000-2001 is any quicker once you modify the 4th gen. The 2002s are quicker stock that's for sure, but there are modified 95-01 Maximas that are running the same ETs and usually better (on average) trap speeds compared to the 2002. The down side to the 2002 is that it looks like headers/Y-pipe will not work with these cars. and the same goes for the SC.

That's the price (used) that RoadBeast was charging. Looks like he was really helping us out without any profit to himself.

Seems as if Road Beast took his pics down.
So if you need links to give to suppliers, I am hosting from my site.

My site is on my own server and domain that I own.
It will be there forever, or at least until I buy a new server.
Still waiting (very impatiently) to hear more....

No word back yet from my side
FYI if your paying just give a CC number or something they may want to charge you an extra 4% but there are some shady charecters over there. I would know I lived there for 15 years of my life.
How much time do you think it would take to install the manifold and everything?

he was training Saudi troops under contract.
He said they were horrible soldiers, but crafty businessmen.
They offered him $30,000 to become a Muslim. When he said "I don't think my wife would appreciate that" (my Mom is very Catholic), they offered to throw in 2 wives!

So anyway, my dad is now a Muslim. <j/k>

I'm 90% sure I have found a source in the ME.
Price will be about $400-425 shipped to the US.
If there is a group deal, I may just handle it myself.
And yes, I'll be making a small profit. (like 5-8%)
Then again, it all depends. I may just give it over to you anyway, Cheston.
But $400-425 is a good deal for +25-32hp, don't ya think?

For $400 I think its much cheaper than a $4000 SC. I'm guessing what 6 hours install time for the VI?

The country I'm sourcing from doesn't have a 2.5L, so It's safe to assume that this is going to be the one.
Just waiting for pics to prove it.

Also to clarify, those gains are on a SC at 5400rpm, IIRC. Just not to mislead anyone of those who don't know how to read.

And i think 5-8% is fair.
I'm definitely in

All I know is it added +25hp at the wheel to MardisGrasMax's ride.
That's why I'm being the test monkey for it for NA cars before I sell it.
And those hp numbers are the Imperial Numbers.
