You know you drive a VQ when...

...Your car suddenly wakes up at night and is willing to race anything...I mean anything...and win.

...Your girlfriend, mother, father, or friend drives your car for the first time and hits the accelerator and gets startled by the throttle response.

...You always drive on the highway in a low gear (3rd for autos, fourth for 5-speeds) just to hear your intake roar when you slightly tap the gas.

...You can accelerate up to 120 at half throttle faster than a most.

...You always celebrate a new mod by burning up a tank of gas...even if its just shaved emblems.

Re: You know you drive a VQ when...

You don't care about the extra weight because you know that 18's look sweet.....

You know that it's possible to change your front brakes in about 14 minutes total....

Your car develops a rattle but you know you can fix it with duct tape or double-stick foam....

You bought a K&N panel and got ripped off because you didn't know at the time where to get factory filters for under $8

You're confident to enough to go to any dealer/any time and ask for a discount on parts

You know that there are many better cars on the road but you love the idea of no car payment and want to keep it that way

Hah, I read that thread on the 1.8T's too...

anyway, You know you're a VQ driver when...

You do the "walkaround" on your car evertime you get out of it to check for damage, parking too close to the curb etc..

You park your car as far as humanly possible from any car that looks like the driver doesn't care about dings..

You have more paint chips than mods..

You find yourself nearly being run over because you're looking over the shoulder at your car in the parking lot as you walk towards a store..

This post should be stickied

. . . when you can recognize a fellow members car from a 1/8 mile away in California traffic, and you still try to get closer.

. . . When your coworkers ask do you have any significant upgrades to the engine and you state, "Just minimal at this point, but wait until I have the money"

You don't HAVE to go to a dyno to confirm that a mod added power.

The sight of a modded Maxima causes you to do a completely illegal u-turn and drive like a maniac so you can catch it and check out what the guy's got.

You know your a VQ driver when......

....when you start taking pictures of your car, and post them on here.

....when you see another Max driver, and you desperately try to catch up, jus so you can give him/her the thumbs up for owning a Max.

....when you notice the tail lights of your car looks similar to some of the older Honda's (Civic I think?) (Applies to 4th Gens only)

....whenever you are driving your Max with other people in the car, you always point out how the VQ differs from the Honda's Vtec and the Toyota's VVT-i & how it's better. Even to your mother (do it all the time)

The Subaru Forester just stole the entire taillight assembly from a 95-96 Maxima and made it red/clear. I can't believe I'm not the only one who notices these things. This damn board is like a support group.

.. when you sell toyota and hondas and you have trouble with customers that are comparing your product to a maxima.

.. hehe when you have to try to justify to a customer why i am seeling cars at honda and toyota but own a Maxima.

.. when you are looking for another car and maxima keeps poping up as your first choice.

.. when you spend 2/3 of your day at work in parts department trying to find more parts for the VQ (i work at a nissan dealer)

....sit around for 30 mins. just reading this thread.

....your wife thinks you and your car need some time apart.

....when you always like to see another proud Max driver.

....when people don't understand why you get excited about meets.

....when you mark your calendar for the next meet, even if it's months away.

....when you start getting ready for a meet; the day before.

....when you drive around slowly hoping to get somebody to race.

....when you grin from ear to ear when a modded Honda pulls next to you.

....when you could go on and on and on and on and on....about your Max.

....when you constantly endure slow servers to see what someone posted.

....when you're not embarrassed to point out your car to others.

...when you test your car's 0-60 time...at every light.

...when you go to a restaurant and sit at the window just so you can keep an eye on your car (I do this all the time)

...when the car looks dirty...half an hour after you washed it.

...when you try to take racing lines on the commute to school.

...when you blip the throttle at a stoplight just to hear that beautiful intake roar, and your friends groan and roll their eyes.

...when you absolutely refuse to use valet parking, for the irrational fear of some hapless valet taking your car for a joyride.

When you slow down and let the person you just beat catch up to you, Only to Dust them again

You know you drive a Maxima (not necessarily VQ) when you keep your car in overdrive 24/7 and can still smoke the tires! I did that today as I left school. It was the most exhilirating feeling to hear my tires caressing the pavement until they boiled! I did it right in front of this hot girl who drives a 5 speed Miata. I felt like a big man, especially when I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a cloud of tire smoke behind me! All I could do was laugh like a madman!
