3 Incidents on my Car(s) now in 6 MONTHS!!!!

October 13, 2001: My Accord V6 gets hit on the fly by a runaway SUV driver. Never did catch that b!tch. Just cosmetic damage.

January 2, 2002: My Accord V6 gets rear-ended and totalled by an idiot in a Ford van at about 30 mph when he neglected to see me stopped in traffic during rush hour.

March 22, 2002: My MAXIMA gets hit in a PARKING LOT by some idiot that didn't quite make their U-TURN!!!!

And I haven't even had the car 2 MONTHS YET!!!!!

AAAARRRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Right-rear light was shattered in about 20-30 pieces all over the ground. Found pieces a good 20-30 feet away so it got hit pretty hard. Right-rear part of the bumper is scuffed like mad and has white paint all over it...on my BLACK CAR!!!! Right-rear quarter panel got scraped and dinged down to the metal. Everything else is okay. No notes, no nothing. Ironically, I did hear a bang and a crash sometime during the night but I'm close enough to a dumpster that I just thought it was people throwing stuff in it. As it turns out, it was my MAXIMA!!!

It's about 15F with the wind chill here tonight and I just got done walking around my entire apartment complex with a flashlight looking for the focker that hit me but I guess they're not from my place. FOCKERS!!!!

I just can't f*cking believe this. 3 incidents on my car(s) in only 6 months, and I haven't even had my Maxima for 2 godforsaken months and it gets hit. It was in perfect condition.

And the irony of all of this is that I just got done finishing off the last bit of insurance paperwork on my totalled Accord this week, and now I have to start up MORE insurance work for the Maxima!!!! GOD DAMMIT!!!!!!!!

Closing Comments

1) I'm moving. This is the last straw. Un-fuken-believeable.
2) I am so glad I didn't get a new car now. I'd be even more p!ssed then.
3) Where can I get red/clears from? CustomMaxima.com right? Anyplace else?

Oh and this is really important...

Does anybody know where I can get some of that RED TAPE that you put over broken tail lamps? I need to get some fast before I head up to PA tomorrow.

Thanks.

I'll have pics up in the morning.

Sorry for the long post, guys. I just needed to vent and I feel much better now

On the bright side, my insurance company has historically now been very generous in the past with my claims so I'll likely get a "more than sufficient" check and "have some left over" for my "inconvenience", but we'll see.

Anyways, my apartment lease is up in 3 months. After that I am f*cking out of here. I'm moving someplace nice and quiet like it was back in PA and I don't care if I have a longer commute or not. (A longer commute would actually be preferred since I have a M A X I M A now )

DA**! Sorry to hear about this ****. That's the world we live in today unfortunately. Is there any way you can NOT claim it, cause you may get beaten on the rates.

Looks like the rear lens lists for 83.11, so you could prolly get it for just over $60. That's why I could never understand why people charged so much for clears when the factory part is what should cost more.

You're right about moving, because that's the only part that is in your control. I told my coworkers I'm not buying a new car as long as I work where I do. There are a lot of people coming to work with no reggies/insurance parking in the lot, and as long as they are around, no car is safe from dings and dents. Some b**** in a subaru outback parked diagonally the other day, how silly.

Here's a Pic

Tail light busted, bumper scuffed to hell, and there are some pretty deep scrapes that you can see around the outer edge of the tail light where the car dug down into the paint. On second look it doesn't look as bad as I thought it was. At night I just assumed there was more damage that I didn't see, but I guess my flashlight took care of it.

Now my Maxima looks like every other used 5spd Maxima in my area. Beat up!!!

My apt lease ends in 3 months. Then I am OUT of this sh1thole.

Try to find a place with a driveway or a garage. Then you can mod your car to death and have a good night sleep everynight..

It certainly does...especially to me

My Feng Shui has got to be screwed up big time or something in this apartment I'm in. I've never been superstitious but I'm starting to get that way. 3 incidents in 6 months makes you start to wonder...

But that's okay, I never really did like the red/yellow's anyways. hehe

Sorry to hear that man!

But if you go through insurance to fix this, won't your premiums go up? Because since you don't have the info of the person who did it, it goes against you right? It might be cheaper to fix this on your own rather than go thru the insurance company.

I don't buy it.

I think you purposely stuck the butt of your car out hoping it would get hit so you could buy those new tails.

Seriously, the people in my area are so stupid that if you really wanted to get rid of your car, I guarantee you that I could have it totalled for you within a week courtesy of one of the many local idiots on their insurnace

I'm tired of having my car hit, though. Insurance payouts are nice, but this is too much. My rates didn't go up when my Accord was hit the first time nor the second time. I'll talk to them and see, though... None of the incidents were my fault, and I've already filed a police report for the incident last night. I knew I should have lowered my deductible!!!

Oh well...

You don't say...

It so happens that my 1991 3rd gen is on its last legs and I am ready for a new car.

355 in Maryland during rushour. Runs parallel to I-270 through the Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Germantown area.

During rush hour when opposing traffic has a green arrow, they will keep running the red everytime. As soon as your light turns green, take a deep breath, close your eyes, and hit it. I guarantee you that you will be T-boned and that your car will be damaged so bad by the 4000 lb SUV's that these people drive that it will be totalled for sure.

Keep one eye open though and try to get them to just take out the engine compartment. Passenger compartment intrusions are not pretty

...Have I got a story for you. I bought a brand new Super Black (with black interior) 2002 Nissan Maxima SE auto in Houston, TX on Feb. 16th. I drove it 3.5 hours home to Arlington, TX, the same day, and by the time I got home I was in love with this car. It is so damn smooth.

I have it home less than 5 minutes and I haven't even got my lovely wife (we are newlyweds) downstairs to look at it, and we hear a crash in the parking lot. And my alarm. Some dumb 21-year-old b*i*t*c*h runs into it in the parking lot of my apartment complex, ripping the entire rear bumper assembly off the damn car. Then she takes off. Hit and Run. Cops come out 2 hours later, my wife and I in total shock. Neighbors walking around outside at 11:30 pm like a tornado just hit, just confused. Wife can't stop crying, because she knew how much the car meant to me, I had been planning the purchase for almost a year. Shattered left taillamp, structural metal on the ground, bumper styrofoam all over, bumper in pieces, the works. Good news is, the next morning I found her car in the complex. and the cops came back out and identified it as the culprit vehicle. So she is getting criminal charges, but the repairs went on my uninsured motorist policy because she had no damn insurance!

Luckily, the body shop did a great job (after two weeks and $4500 worth of repairs) and it looks brand new again. But I am more paranoid than ever. And it sucks. I had ulcers for two straight weeks with this crap.

Damn man! Very sorry to hear about it. You've already seen the silver lining though, soon you'll be orange-free.

God is sending you a sign - move somewhere with a garage. A nice townhouse or house.

so we know your insurance can be pretty expensive if you life in a fast moving city such as New York. and we know your insurance can cost a lot if you live in a high theft area such as Newark, NJ. but can your insurance company raise your rates if they realize that you live in an area with an abnormal amount of dumbsh!ts? "we've raised your rates to $4000 a year because your neighbors are morons and there is nothing you can do about it"

They already know!

My insurance rates locally, specifically in my area are already pretty high, but definitely not NY or NJ high. But if I moved just 5-10 miles up the road I would save about $400/yr is what my insurance agent told me.

I'm glad you caught that tard though. I hope she gets the book thrown at her!!!

Yeah, I'm very paranoid about driving in my area too. Hi-beam lights on 24/7. If I blind people that means that they know I'm there and don't make dumshiat maneuvers and cut me off. The retard that nailed my Accord and totalled it wasn't insured either. Bad drivers combined with lots of low-income people = lots of people w/o insurance because they can't bloody afford it. But if they weren't so damned stupid and ignorant to begin with then there wouldn't be as many wrecks... argh!!

...I almost didn't respond to your post simply because even typing the story out again makes me want to hit something (with my fist, not my car ) but after hearing you had three vehicles in accidents I figured my very depressing story might at least let you know you aren't the only one. Enjoy that car man, the Max (in any manifestation, 3rd, 4th, 5th gen) is a great car.

Yep...right after we got done talking I realized I left something in my car so I went out to get it and when my foot went cRuNcH on something and I looked down it wasn't pretty. Then I saw my tail and thought some punk kid kicked it out. Then I saw the bumper damage.

Remember how I was saying that all of the local 5spd Max's I looked at were all beat to hell and that I had to go to Virginia to find mine? Well now my Max is one of those I-270 corridor beat-to-hell Max's!!!

Oh well.

Hopefully I'll get a big enough check from insurance minus deductible that I won't have to dip into my own pocket very much.

Good luck on your 5spd quest

Thanks man, it really did help me cope. I appreciate it

If that happened to me I would have seriously killed someone. My tolerance for stupidity is extremely low and that would have pegged the needles (and broken them) and I would have gone psycho.

Damn! I know exactly how you feel. The same exact thing happened to me when I got my car. I was just finishing up paperwork on my last car accident claim and some idiot decides to race up my street only to loose control and flip his truck over onto my parked car. I had it for 3 months!! I was stuck in a damn rental SUV for a month before I could drive my "new" max again.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I know how you feel. Just wait until you have to drive your car all wrecked up and everyone is giving you funny looks because they think you can't drive. Everyone wants to cut you off when your car is beat up. I got them back though...one flash of my properly aimed into the rearview mirror headlight and they were toast.

Here are some pics of it after the repairs, Thank the sweet Lord it looks good as new. The Nissan certified body shop really did a great job. When it was hit, it only had 300 miles on it, I don't know if I could have taken it if the reapirs left it lokking 'not quite right...'
