AIR BAG dilemma

AIR BAG dilemma
I have a 98 I30t and I removed my drivers seat to fix a part of the power seat controls. One of the front thigh supports was broken from the seat frame. I unplugged all 4 of the connectors and one being taped with yellow right towards the front of the seat. I put everything back together and then drive the car and the air bag light right in the middle of the speedo keeps blinking. I have only seen this light when you first start the car and it immediately goes off. I looked in the Haynes and it only states not to remove these yellow marked connectors, too late for that. I have also already taken off the neg. bat. terminal overnight to try and reset it. This flashing AIR BAG, AIR BAG, AIR BAG, is driving me mad. Thanks in advance. David.

Disconnecting the harness may have been the only thing that tripped the light.
Try resetting the airbag control unit: with the diver's door open, turn the key to ON, and press the driver's side door switch 7 times in 10 seconds. The switch is between the kick plate and the rear door.
If the light comes back, the harness may have been damaged when you removed or reinstalled the seat. There is a TSB for the harness, check the linked post:

Jay_x that reset trick worked out fine for me thanks for the reply. I can now take that 1/2" section of elec tape off my inst. panel. 97 black max, as I said in my post the front thigh support had broken. If you peek under the front of the seat you will see a horizontal shaft linking two point on the front portion of the seat. One of these links had broken away from the seat frame. BE very careful when pushing around the seat frame area, the holes punched out for anchoring the seating material are extremely sharp I cut the crap out of my finger with very little pressure. Thanks, David.
