I love you all, but you guys and gals have some of the worst tastes in music I have ever seen!! ))

Maybe I am just getting old, but rap isn't music, it's noise!!!

OK, I feel better now.

hehe

Its a good noise depending on who is the rapper if you ask me. But if one listens to only 1 type of music, IMHO thats not very smart, I mean there are so many good songs from different styles.

I'm thinking that greg lives somewhere in the suberbs with 2.5 kids... (only joking) but I do think its just a little ethnocentric to think other people's music sucks just because you don't listen to it...

Lol

Heh I feel the same way about DMB as you do about rap. I'm no hardcore gansta thug rapper, but I'll take Mos Def over DMB anyday =). As for good tunes, Rap, Metal, Jazz, House, Punk, Classical, Ska (how's that for varied musical taste hehe)

Has anyone noticed that almost everyone says they'll listen to anything "BUT COUNTRY"? If that's the case, then why is country music so popular. Are there really that many hillbillies around? Is it one of those things where everyone does it but no one will admit to it? Not that I'm defending country, it's really not my thing either, but I've always wondered.

I like music,all kinds...Period.

You listen to what you want to listen to it's a free country. I'm black and I listen to country. I like all kinds of music. Music is Music. Mostly I like R&B Hip Hop and some pop music and sometimes country. Country can be good if you just listen to and understand the words. There.................

i guess i listen to music that can be classified "country"
the lyrics of dmb songs that are decipherable can fall into the country category, some of them
but my radio never goes on numerous country stations by choice and it is not real comfortable for me to do something that i don't like.

btw trashed my dave matthews cd!

Amen!

Here's how I make this "distinction". I prefer to listen to artists who have musical talent. That would include DMB, who all play their own instruments and so on. I play the guitar and have tremendous respect for these types ( not just DMB ) of artists.

Now, don't get me wrong. Rappers are very, very talented. I could never imagine being able to do what they do, but musically I don't hear anything. Some background music produced on a computer with the artist rapping.

Rapping is an art, just not the art of my choice

ejj I like the way you put it. It's about musical talent, the ability to play an instrument and sing with a nice voice. I listen to all kinds of music (including a bit of country), but most rap songs are ripped off samples of songs from the 60's/70's/80's with a bunch of polyrhythmic huffing and grunting and use of the words "bi***es", "hoes" and "h*ll yeah".

A few rap songs are actually pretty catchy. I just have no desire to listen to how "fat" someones pockets are or how many people they have "eliminated". It's not always the case, but I have found that people who play instruments scrutinize the music they listen to more than non-instrument players.

My $.02 worth,

The only reason I don't like some rap is...

because of messages about greed, degrading women, etc....uhhh..can't think now.
Just my humble opinion.

For all those people that like rap, but not country, go to napster and download Gin and Juice by Ween.

Since the most "listened to" Country music station is in New York, I guess it must be all those southerners. Give me the blues any day.

P.S. I'm originally from Long Island.

Well to be honest, there are good songs in every music genre. For someone who listens primarily to classical music and operas, Dave Matthews Band might seem like junk to them.

ANY TRANCE FANS OUT THERE?

Many people think techno and trance is the same thing, even though I have to disagree and say that trance got existed from techno, but its two diff styles of music.
