ummm, no. it' sslower then your max, small, cheaper, but it does come with nice wheels and the 6-spd is HORRIBLE in it. i think you'll drive ti and like your max.

yeah, I have come to like the SE-r too, but DMB is right, it is slower or only a bit faster than a stock 4th gen auto, my friend's best so far was a 15.4 in his stock Vspec SE-r...the little thing does have some good low-end for a 4 banger! it looks really nice too, I think lowered and with a kit it'll look HOT!!! If I was in the market for a new car under $18k, I would definetly consider it! plus those gauges and bezels are just too BEYYOOOTIFUL!!!

just drove one two days ago.. it was my friend's car... it's an auto... and my word to you is... HELL no.. I feel so out of place in that car.. it's smaller, and much slower then my 96,97 or 2000.. it DOES handle quit nice though.. but that is about it... don't do it..

i dont think i would trade ur max in for an se-r vspec, i had the option of getting one of those but i instead went with the maxima, the max is faster and much nicer in my opinion

I dunno I test drove one, and it was REALLY FUN!!!

Fun little car to toss around I'd imagine it'd rule on the autocross track esp with the LSD. Unfortunately I made my salesman crap in his pants and he told me to get out of the car wuss.

It handles great and has a lot of grunt on the low end, the interior is simplistic, and sporty, cheap compared to the max of course but hey, it's a sentra. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a good gauge of how it is at speed cause my idiot salesman brought me to an empty parking lot and expected me to drive slow.

So I figured since he didn't trust me to drive fast on open roads, I'd see how it handles. He didn't like me drifting.. =P

Go for a classic SE-R

Now adays you could pick up a 91-94 sentra SE-R for $1k-4k. Keep the max and just get the classic se-r. Although they aren't as good as the new SE-R's, they are still very fun cars. Actually a P10 infiniti G20 has the better suspension and it comes with the same VLSD also.

well the best run so far was 15.0X with a 02 spec v with AEM CAI 6 speed

this is a very fun car to drive, but if you want to get some real car with *****, gow ith a classic 91-94 sentra SE-R, drop in a sr20det motor, higher the boost, or get the Fmax turbo kit, and u will have a 12 sec car or better

Well im not into that kind of modding. I will just keep it stock. Well I drove my friends SE-R auto And it didnt feel as good as the maxima. I will still test drive spec V on Friday to see how it feels. And its not slow. 97 Maxima had like 155 HP to the wheels Spec V has 149 and its 300 pounds lighter.Dont forget that not all members have 15 sec maxima so people who have 16sec sentras dont know how to drive. My first time at the track was 15.6 but maximas are not slow. We cant judge sentra by few people driving it. Drive one and then talk **** about it. Thats what Im goign to do.

4th gen 5-spds but down 165-170hp stock and most guys run low 15's/high 14's and se-r spec-v's run high-mid 15's.

there's a guy here in town with a Spec V that tries to race me all the time.. he's got an intake on it already, and I still hand him his a$$ on a silver platter every time he tries to race...

hmmmmm....

Red SE-R Spec V with intake and temp dealer tag in the window... $18,000. 15.4 1/4 mile.

Red 1993 Maxima SE 5-spd, 170,000 miles, CAI, UDP... $3100. 15.0 1/4 mile.

Making him look like a fool in front of his friends..... (you know the rest. )

guys from the forums at freshalloy.com have ran 15.1's in the 6 speed stock... many people on this board run mid to high 15's with modded 4th gen 5 speeds! and just to let everyone know, the car only weighs 2000 pounds! a friend of mine just got one and until youve actually ridden in one, dont knock it.. if youre going to compare it to a 2k2 max 6 speed then youre an idiot, because it costs a lot less and is in a different class. the spec V can eat an Si, and probably most cars in its class..

Spec-V weighs 2000lbs? Try 2800+lbs. The only cars that weigh 2000lbs are Kias and the MR2 (2100lbs). 175hp and 2000lbs would mean easy 13s.

I guess no SE-R for me. I test drove one today and its very fast and I love it. It chirps 2nd easy. I didnt try 3rd. It came out to be $21K loaded with TAX it was too much for me so Im not getting it. Its not worth switching cause its cheaper smaller and a bit slower(maybe). But who ever wants that type of a car should not think about it and get it but Spec V only spec V.

I am telling you, for about 10k. You can get an old SE-R that will run 12's. Turbo, bolt ons..etc.. you can get one and mod the **** out of it. With money to spare.

don't be serious!!!!!

It's a nifty little car and all.. but ****, it's like 16-17 grand for something that will cost about 9-10 at the end of next year. Like someone said, I'd keep the $, save up for something better and newer and faster and bigger for the time being, just pimp out my maxima and save Thousands which I will get shafted for in resale value of the car.. If u want to loose 6-8 grand in a little over a year just like that, go ahead... I like the new SE-R as well.. I had thoughts about it as well, but everything from insurance, to worries about having a new car to getting just that for all that $$$$.... For the $$$ you can get a 2k Max with relatively good miles, options u like eetcc..
