Risk in buying 97 GLE w 100k miles for $9,000?

Do a compression test of all cylinders and while you checking each cylinder check how the spark plugs look.
Another thing...look at the throttle body (inside). They should tell you a little bit about the person selling the car.
How does it idle...run or WOT? Is the leather in good shape? Look to see if it has new struts or look at the drive shaft boot are not torn.
My wife's '97 GLE runs like new.

Have a mechanic check it out and do the compression tests like previously posted. Maximas do basically last forever like Hondas. There's a lot of people on here with ridiculously high miles and no problems at all.
