Paint for the SE Center Caps
Need help with finding the paint for the center caps of my rims. THey are turning that yellowish color. Don't FLAME ME just yet. I have looked for the "Dupli" (whatever) brand in the auto parts stores around here and noone has it. So my question is - has anyone used any other brand and what specific color did you use?

I sanded mine down using fine steel wool (AFTER popping them off the wheel) and then just sprayed some rustoleum outdoor metallic spraypaint on them. Its a teeny bit brighter and sparklier then the actual wheel, but its not too noticeable, and looks a F alot better then the yellow weathered plastic.

I plan to do the same with my SE center caps. Right now, they are still "gold plated". Yuck! I have no idea why I chose to get that when I got the car. I took off all traces off the gold plating(all emblems). I'm going to repaint them silver too.

Same thing here. I used fine sandpaper and soap to get all the remaining paint/dirt off the center caps, then sprayed with rustoleum outdoor metallic paint. I tried spraying them thereafter with a clear coat, but it dulled the finish such that it didn't quite match. With just the paint, the match is nearly perfect. No one will ever notice any difference, they are that good.

Does anyone think it would look good to take the OEM center caps, steel wool and clean them, and paint them with the majestic blue touch up paint to match my car, and clear coat them and everything? I think it could look really nice....

Personally, no, I don't think it would like quite right. It would end up making the car look cheap. My opinion aside, if you end up not liking it, it's simple to repaint over the new paint with silver metallic paint to make it look stock again.
Try it and see if you like it.
