I know I should check the relay. I plugged in another one of the light blue ones and that didn't fix anything. I also check the fuse that was in the engine bay. The small horseshoe shaped metal was not broken. Is there anything else I need to check before I change the bulbs?

Thanks

I am sure that it's the bulb. It's not that uncommon to have to bulbs go.

Are both fog lamps out? Power is supplied through the fog lamp relay to both bulbs, so if one is okay, it is not a relay (BTW bothe the RH headlamp relay and the fog lamp relay need to be energized). The fuse for the fog lamp relay is a 15A fuse in position 6 of the fuse block that is located to the lower left of the steering column, not in the engine bay. If you need to do some tracing of the power circuitry let me know and I will try and provide a more detailed circuit.

Nick

Just realized that this was a general forum question, not a 5th gen. My reply was only about the 5th gen wiring, so you mat have to disregard. Sorry if this caused confusion.

I'm pretty sure that the fuse for the fog lamp is in the engine bay, a "15" fuse. 2nd or 3rd from the top I think. Both fog lights went out at the same time. I am so sick of changin these things. First I bought PIAA, and one of them blew, then I bought Eurolights, and they both blew. I bought some at autozone this time. We'll see how they do.

Did you wipe them down with alcohol before putting them in? Even if you didn't touch them it is probably a good idea to do this just in case. I was having the same problem and when I wiped them before hand I haven't had that problem since.

When Delio put in my fogs in Aug? I think, he wiped them down with alcohol and they still blew. The lights I put in today don't match. This stinks. I'll just wait til these blow.

LOL, Sorry guys, but sounds like a lot of blowing up...LOL...

I installed a set of Eurolite H3 bulbs on my 2k Max, and they were great until they both blew at the same time. The bulb didn't actually blow up, they just both burned out or something, the filament was fine, everything was fine. Oh well, got the oem Halogens back in there now, no problems. Probably just cheap bulbs...

I'm thinking about Hella Yellow Stars... what do you guys think.

Thanks, lol... it's just sounds funny all these lights blowing...

Hella Yellowstars are pretty good >>

But if you put in the 55W H3s, the housings won't appear to be as yellow as those Lexuses and infinitis. Actually, when looking at the lights they seem white, but if you look at the light shed in front of the car, it's a nice yellow...worked well in the fog we had here last week.

I like my Yellowstars. . .Worked real well driving to Sac last week in the fog. . . My normal lights were practically non existant, but the yellowstars lit up the road. I should adjust then a little bit to shine a little more forward than down as the way they are pointing now doesn't light up far enough in front of me.

yella

So,

Since my car is a 5th gen, I can't get the 85W? I had 55W YellowStars in mine and liked them.. one of them blew and I'm looking to replace them. I figured if I could get away with 85W why not. But I sure dont want to be melting my lenses or reflectors.

But I guess I need to see if my lenses/housing are plastic... then if they are I need to stick with 55w, right?? But you guys know the answer in two seconds...

Speak up chiefs,
/aac

You can get the Hella Yellow stars H3's in 55 watts for $6©50 each from Performance Unlimited in Ohio; their number is: 800©333©7862
I've had the 55 watt ones and they lasted over a year© Great color!

Is it common for both bulbs to blow at the same time?

I have a 4th gen SE and as was starting my car to go home from work last night, I discovered that my driver-side headlight blew AND neither of my fog lamps were working. First thing I did was check the fuses - it should be under the hood, and it checked fine. Normally, I don't drive with the fogs on, but we had a mild snowstorm last week, so I had them on a lot. I also checked the casing, and there appeared to be no damage. Now I guess I'll have to take it apart and install the factory fogs to see if they work. If that still doesn't work, what type of wiring probs should I look for???

Sorry, I did a search on that, but couldn't find anything. Also, I had Nokya bulbs (headlamps and fogs, both standard wattage.) I also plan to try somethign new. Appreciate any input on this guys....

If you replace the OEM 55W fogs with aftermarket 55W bublbs...I don't see how that can hurt the car. But they just seem to blow often. I guess it could be the quality of the aftermarket bulbs. As far as wiring problems, I am knowledgable enough to offer any solutions.
