To shave bumpstops or no?

I got my springs and struts yesterday. Now I'm just waiting for the KYB combo dust boot/bump stops. Ive done some searching and askin and 1/2 the people say to trim the bump stops to increase wheel travel, and the other 1/2 say dont worry about it the springs are too stiff to bottom. The Sprint literature sez to trim 1/2 the bump stop off. The KYB literture says up to 1/2 the bumpstop may be trimmed off.

When I lowered my old camry with KYB GR2 and Intrax, I did not trim the stop.

Oh yeah, another question-when i dropped my old camry, I had zero problems with suspension noise. I'm still debating on whether or not to put the spiral wrap around mine. Anyone with Sprint springs and KYB AGX have no problems with noise?

yes...

I did with both my sprint/koni combo and gc/agx, and haven't had any problems with either setup.

I believe with the KYB dustboots/bumpstops you don't have to cut them for AGXs. I left mine as is, and even with B+G springs I don't have problems (except for spring noise )

My bumpstops are cut to 1/4 their original size, with the stiffest springs you can get, Ground Controls. I bottom the front out probably once or twice a day. I'm only lowered about 2.25", far from how low the GCs can go, but I only have about 1.25" of travel in the front as it is. The lower I go, the more I hit the bumpstops. Cut them. It can't hurt (except that when you hit them it will he harsher with them cut than with them at their full size), but it will definately decrease the frequency with which you hit the stop.

You've got to cut them to gain back some wheel travel. It makes a world of difference. Hitting the stops isn't like bottoming out (not near as loud), instead it's just really harsh. I cut 2/3 of the stops front and back and my car rides worlds better.

You have to cut the bumpstops on OEM dustboots, but I don't believe you have to do so on KYB dustboots. I didn't measure the bumpstops, but they allow more travel than the OEMs.
