while you wait, try taking out your alternator and looking at it. the alternator in my friends ford ranger stopped working so we decided to "play" with it b4 he bought a new one. it turns out that one of the wires somehow got disconnected so we just went to radioshack, bought a $20 soldering gun, went to work, popped it back in. the car runs fine now. good luck.

Unless he's got over 36K.

You could have just rebuilt it yourself, it's so simple to do. 3 or 4 long threaded rod bolts hold the thing together. Take out the bearings, read the number from the side. Either order them from Nissna or any local bearing supply house. There like 12 - 15 bucks a piece. You should do both front and rear bearings while you've got it apart. Get a new belt from your local Automotive chain and the job could have been under 100 bucks.
