Anybody running 225/60/15 tires ?
I am still running on my stock 15" wheels. yeah, the steelies that come with the GXE with hubcaps. Its going to be a while till I can save up for some lightweight 17" rims. I wanted to know if anyone has run 225/60/15 tires or if anyone has any opinions/info/suggestions about this setup. I am looking for performance over looks.
currently i am looking at the following tires:
Dunlop SP Sport A2 : 225/60HR15
Yokohama AVS dB : 225/60VR15
Dunlop SP Sport 5000 (symmetrical) : 225/60WR15
TIA

I was thinking the same when it comes to tires, 225/60-15. Until I bought a set of 17".
You know, looking at those 528i's out there, 225/60-15 look great! Fat and nice....
Our stock size of 205/65/15 is a bit too skinny (and less traction than 225/60).
I would go for the 225/60....and the choice would be Dunlop A2 (I believe they are on sale at Tirerack last time I checked).

thanks Dave. yeah, the stock is 205/65 and i was planning to go with 215/60 but when i put in the numbers on this site tire size calculator , it seems like 225/60 is gonna be a better choice. here's what it says:
tire speedo reading actual speed
215/60/15 60mph 59.2mph
225/60/15 60mph 60.3mph

However, the the large sidewalls do flex more than a lower profile tire. I have driven with these tires in the snow. They got the job done, but I wouldn't recommend them for long term work or heavy snow. Also, I am not to concerned about the loss of speed. A '91 SE Auto will never be fast anyways.

I have driven through the pouring rain at 75+ mph with no hydroplaning or braking problems. They are sticky in the dry and they are QUIET! Very little road noise. They do not squeal unless under EXTREME stress. The tire progressively approaches its limits so you have good control. And in case this concerns you, they have a wicked looking tread pattern. The wear rating is low at 320. My first set lasted about 25k miles. However, I abused them and my front end wasn't aligned properly. The price is VERY reasonable. $70 a tire from www.tirerack.com. Perfect for my budget.
