Buying Nissan parts/accessories

Why is it that when you want to buy parts/accessories for your Max from Nissan, they will only allow for you to buy for YOUR particular car and year? You always have to include your VIN number for ordering. I always have trouble buying accessories from other years' Max's so that I can "dress" up MY Max. This also includes any genuine Nissan parts/accessories bought from most websites that honor Nissan. It seems that the only way I can buy parts from other years is from a seller or local junkyard. But, why wait from some other source when you can buy brand new. Anybody else ever experience these situations?

Next time you go up there, just tell them that a friend needs this part and he had to work today so you swung by in your max to pic it up. Your sure this is the part needed, but you don't have the VIN #.

I don't understand why the wouldn't sell you the parts. If you screw something up, you will just be back later to replace it anyway yeilding more $$ for them.

Man, you just don't know the WAYZ of the .org..

You gotta go through the known channels where they don't give you crap and love to have your modding money. Courtesy Nissan, Dave Burnette from south pointe Nissan, Tustin Nissan, Extreme Nissan, Ultimate Z.. All these guys sell parts frequently to .org members with no hassle, great service and even discounts. Do a search
