Question is how much faster... the GS400 costs $72000 here fully loaded. The E55 costs $98000 (all CDN$)

Now for that much of an increase in price, do you really get that much performance? You could put that difference in money into the GS400 and make it a Viper killer! lol (well maybe)

website number is just website number, German makers usually use very conservative numbers in publications.
as a owner of a GS400, I have no problem admiting E55 is faster i once raced one, granted i have 2 more ppl in car, and he only had a dog with him, i could tell he pulls much harder under WOT.

hmm, i think E55 run ~13.3-13.4, that's 1 sec faster than a GS400 in 1/4m. does that worth the extra $25k? it depends on what the buyer think.

i mean, if money isn't a problem, sure why not the E55? you hang with a C5 with style. if you are looking for bargain then the GS400 is a pretty good car for under $50k with respective performance.

btw, you are right, there is a tuner that sells supercharger for GS400, for ~$20k you can make a GS400 run under 12s, yes that does kill the Viper

I think the GS400 has a lot better styling then the Benz. Also the interior is nicer. Every comparison I have seen between the big dog Lexus and Benz (LS400 and S-Class) The Lexus comes out on top. I assume this carries down the ranks in terms of quality. ie: the GS vs. the E-Class.

$20000 for a s/c?!?!? Holy cow! Is there a website for this? Sure beats the heck out of the $4000 and $3000 Nissan and Toyota s/c's! haha

What else does that 20K package come with? Don't tell me its JUST the s/c!

yeah in all artical LS400 used to beat Mecedes all the time, i think maily due to value and build quality and reliablity...
but then i have to admit, a Benz is a Benz

Well, if ya got the money to pay $20000 for a S/C on a GS400 then you'll have the money to buy the $35000 Lingenfelter twin turbo setup for the C5 Vette. The hell with 12s in the GS400. How about 10.7s@135mph in a completely stock looking C5 Now that's what I'm talking about.
