I searched and searched .....removing exhaust resonator and keeping stock muffler..
I searched and searched .....removing exhaust resonator and keeping stock muffler..
I found everything from straight pipes to test pipes, and getting rid of the catalytic converter I could not find any information about removing the resonator and keeping the stock muffler.I have a y and want to remove the resonator the question is how will this sound? Will the stock exhaust tone change at all? Or will the amazing stock muffler muffle the sound, I am looking for a little more sound, I pulled off my aftermarket muffler a while ago because the Y and muffler were too much.

I removed the resonator and had a piece of pipe installed to replace it
the wave clip is here at idle

Nice writeup. I'm sorta going that route, too. I've got a 2K muffler for my 98 and I'm getting a full B pipe, so , as well as the resonator, I will also get rid of the crimps and s bend just behind the cat. Already got the Y. After that, I'm done with the exhaust.

I was going to ask the same question today.
With intake, Y-pipe, RT cat, and stock muffler, would a B-pipe without a resonator add alot of noise? Do Stillen's or Courtesy's B-pipes have a resonator?
Anybody know how much it would cost a shop to make a B-pipe?

I have the pop cahrger, y-pipe combo with no resonator and the stock muffler, it will increase the exhaust note a little bit, but you can tell a difference.

This is the set up I will have this weekend
thanks for the inputMS Thickness: Thanks for all of your input your website is quite informative

Thanks for all your inputs

Courtesy and the new cattman Mid pipe both have resonators. The Stillen does not. Warpspeed offers the B with/without resonator. I'm told if you keep the stock muffler, noise levels do not increase much without a resonator in the B pipe. Yeah, I've been doing some research
WHat I'm wondering is, how much hp does a B pipe resonator take away? If it's only like 1 or 2 hp, I may as well keep the resonator.

need low cost exhaust??
ok why doesn't my stillen exhaust make any noise??
y2kse is king of exhaust as far as I am concerned and he has posted lots of valuable info on the topic!!
Thank Thickness for the "lanks" will have the resonator removed soon. The intake and the Y keeps thing interesting @ WOT but I need a little more
but I gotta stay with the stock muffler.
Thaks again
