How bad is bouncing off the rev limiter?

so i put my CAI on and my dad wants to drive my car to see what the difference is. so i sit in with him and we go to a main street and he floors it in first. problem is.. he doesnt switch to second.. i was yelling at him to stop pressing the gas and just to stop and he was like "what what?" so i was literally sitting there watching the tach bouncing off redline at least 6-7 times and the whole car was jerking and spazzing out. think there was any damage to anything at all?

You mean besides the stain on your seat? You've got a fuel-cut on the red-line, so I doubt there was any damage. I wouldn't do that every d@mn day, though! Jeez...

Shouldn't be any damage. Just don't let your father drive the car again.

i have done it only once and it was the worst feeling in the world, try not to do it, it wont cause any damage at first, but it will add-up

yeah, he had a few 5spds before. just the fact that my car was spazzing out and that the tach kept hitting redline so many times kinda worries me.

Sounds like he wanted to hurt that car, if he knows how to drive a 5 speed, unless he is used to driving high reving cars. But I wouldnt worry, that is what a rev limiter is for, so you dont do any damage.

Wow... I didn't know that a CAI gives you THAT MUCH POWER!

Like everyone else said... shouldn't have caused and permanent damage. I did the same a lot the 1st week with my S/C.

Isecond the notion of not letting your dad drive your car again.

I think it bouncing off the rev limiter is BETTER than him redlining it the 6-7 times.
