2002 SE tints
2002 SE tints
whats up everyone. just bought a 2002 SE. the dealer is going to do tints for me. i was wondering if anyone had recommendations as far as how much to get. i know the front windows cant be as dark as the back but i dont want it to look dumb either. any suggestions?
Re: tints
the % is the amount of light that it allows through. so it mean that 35 % of the lights enters through the tint. I would say if you dont want it to dark, go with 35% that is because you already have a dark interior, same as me, i have black and it looks great. Did you check out the pics of mine?
well, i dont want mine tooo dark, so i got 35 all around, also with you rear window and both back windows tinted, plus your dark interior, it will look pretty dark. The front looks a bit lighter. But as for having2 different % tints, i put the same on all.
Take note that you can't just get any tint you want. Check your state laws to see what's acceptable. In most states it's 35% all around and the windshield cannot be tinted legally.

Another tip is, try getting your windows tinted elsewhere. Dealerships are notorious for charging you a premium on tinting services/films that are usually $50-100 cheaper elsewhere.

Just for comparison, mine's black on black leather with 35%. It is one of the upper levels of tint. 3rd of 4 with 4 being their premium tint. My understanding is that there is more metallic content the higher quality you go. Also varying color between the different levels. Mine is sort of like a 'Rayban' grey/black smoke color as opposed to true black.
I'm going to get the sunroof done as I neglected to get them to do it when I bought the car.

It's just right for my liking. Dark enough to make a difference, yet light enough that I'm not paranoid when backing up.

My tints are 35% all around and it's just not dark enough. Also, in really bright light it doesn't look very black, kinda brownish because its not that dark and it shows through to my interior (of course yours is black so you probably won't have this problem). Even though 20% is illegal I wish I had gotten it, I never see anyone with really dark tints getting harassed in my area.
