Burning smell from car after race or WOT

hey guys, i have noticed that generally in all cars, after excessice WOT's or like if ur racing, and u come to a stop, u smell this 'burning' smell from the engine, it seems as though that u have fried something under the hood!, but neways, is that normal?? im guessing it is, because it happens in all cars, what is that smell?
any other info would be great

I smelled that on my car too. It has to be either the transmission or the brake..

It's probably the brakes. That was the case for me after a few spirited runs. I was going 100mph+, my exit was coming up, so I had to slow down fast. There was a burning smell coming from the brakes and also I noticed a bit of smoke too.

I d say it was your Transmission. I had that same smell after flyin with some 8 modded maxima buddies in Atl going to a meet on the high way. After we got there I smelt something as if it got burnt. Its the transmission. Make sure everything is alright in there dont want it to fail on ya. Get a transmission cooler. I have one on my car and it helps alot! You can get them from Pepboys, or Advanced Auto parts stores. I have the 404 model its good for BIG RVS and Mobile homes. So I know its workin on my car.

It could be the brakes. I have semi-metalic so this doesn't happen often. When I did go 100 MPH and had to stop I didn't smell or feel anything, however, the second time after about a minute I did that and I could smell burning and my braking really sucked, too forever for me to come to a complete stop. If this happens pull of the road for a couple minutes to let them cool down, you don't want to grive with hot brakes.
Good Luck,
Paul

If you have a standard it could very well be the clutch. After that I'd say the brakes.

It wasn't the transmission in my case. It was the brakes. And I already have a transmission cooler. Hayden 403.

I think it is the brakes, although the last time I smell something burning was from another car and it was not the brakes but the clutch.

it's normal for a slight rotten egg smell after a WOT run; there's sulfur in your fuel and when you're at WOT, you're running rich. Rich mixture = rotten egg smell
