Yokohama AVS ES100

anybody know anything about this tire. I have to buy new tires soon and I was wondering about these.

My other options are:

Sumitumo HTR+
Yokohama AVS dB
Sumitumo HTR Z II

I have Yokahama AVS db's which are pretty good. Tread life is good and grip is awesome but they arent that great in the rain.

What tire are you comparing the AVS dB to? Mine are wonderful in the rain. But then again, I never drive above 65-70 mph in the rain.

i just got them, the 225/55/16 on stock rims (SE), replacing Dunlop SP Sport 8000 of the same size.

i have to say that they feel pretty good, maybe more stiff in the sidewall than the SP8000, no rain in my area, so i can't comment on the rain handling.

the thing i was concerned about was the noise, but they are quiet, the SP8000s had gotten quite noisy (they were cupped).

will try to post more comments after i drive more on them.

oh, talked to the local discount tire and got them for $90 each (includes installation and lifetime balance).

I have Sumitomo HTR+ and I guess if you need all-season there still aren't many alternatives if you need an 18". Otherwise, like I said, ES100 is an example of the big-boy putting the brakes on the niche where the little boys had free reign (ie Kumho and Sumitomo in the 18" arena). Based on UTQG and pricing I'd say it's a no-brainer. Get 'em.

I have 'em. They are very good tires for the money, however, coming from Potenza S0-2's..I'm a little tainted. These tires don't hold up near as well in the twisties, but they are better than the Potenza's in the ride department due to the soft sidewall. Hey for about $500 (235/45/17) a set shipped plus a free remote controlled car from Tirerack..it's all good!

I have had these on for about 1000 miles, and man oh man I love em...they run good...although I used to run michelins. These have good grip and great ride...I just don't know how long these will last.

TireRack personnel tested these on their course back in early July. They seemed to like them on the BMW's. Decent wet because of the Silica compound.

GRM's street vs race tire issue came out this week (finally). "The ES100 doesn't have the sharp edge offered by the Falken Azenis Sport and BFGoodridh T/A KD, but is a predicable, easy-to-control tire with a wide slip angle-pretty decent. We would compare it favorably to the Kumho ECSTA 712 or Kankook Ventus Sport K104"

What size HRTZ's? I'm running 235/45's and didn't think of them as noisy at all.
