The only thing about the install thats a real pain I'd say is getting the back piece of the front seats done...I couldnt do it myself I HAD to get a second person to help me with them.shaz
Mine too. Playing with them now. They f'd up my panels, wrong color. Retards. I'm not impressed. So far I'm disappointed in the color match for puddy, big time. Not worth all the pain so far, hopefully they look better on....
They match better than I thought at least...
I did the upper rear portion tonight (in about 4.5 hours!!). I used zip ties where hog ties were used under the seat (very hard to get to areas, that a big tool just can't get to). The zip ties work wonders for those really hard to reach areas.
Painfully there were no holes cut for anything. Like the rear seat release and trunk lock. I literally spent 30 minutes cutting that out perfect so as not to cut too far. There is little room for error when making holes for that kind of stuff.
The bolts in the 5th gen are 12mm. You remove the back of the seats (the gray trunk carpet portion) by wiggling it all around until it just sort of falls off. Don't just pry it off; learn from my mistake.
It's a painful process but so far everything is looking very sharp! The one thing I don't care much for is they used white thread on the larger stitching of the rear armrest. You can only visually see about an 1" of it but it sort of bothers me.
Good luck.

Not to rain on any good installs, but I finished the back seat. The puddy is waaaaay too dark, doesn't match the panels in the 5g at all. Seattlemax's car was the reverse of mine and the colors looked great, but for whatever reason these suck. Everything is all tight and nice fitting, I just don't like the puddy. Poor matching, or at least on my set. I'm ****ed, big time. And my door panels aren't even right.
Just talked with Eric, he wants to make it all right. I appreciate that at least.

Got mine today. And they sent me gathered rather than flat door inserts. And the wheelskin didn't even match the color i went with so i'm returning it. I already emailed Eric and he said he took care of the inserts. I'm still waiting about the wheelskins.
Hmmm...

Oh well, I'll file a complaint with the OKC BBB just for reference for any other problems people have.
Vito,
Do you have grey lustre too? I didnt get my seats yet but, I read about what you say w/the puddy inserts. Do you have a grey lustre car like I do? If so what you say concerns me a bit. I'm thinking now... Erik told me that the BEST MATCH for a frost interior car was puddy. On the website however, there were some other colors that looked closer to 5th gen frost interior. This will sound WAAAY out there but, as opposed to sending the kit back and arguing with them for a kit w/a better color match, have you thought about maybe lightly bleaching the puddy inserts w/clorox wipes or something to lighten the color a bit? I'm sure if done properly, it may help. I know this sounds risky but I dont think they'll make new sets for us seeing as how they already spent the time and money to make these!!! Bleach it lighty, let it dry and then oil the seats afterwards to see how they look... I will try this if the match is as bad as you say. I've been through enough w/these guys on the phone. Anyway... this is just a thought.

Deac, the mist gray looks sweet, it matches nicely. I have the Grey lustre like yours, frost interior. The puddy is dark, there's not much contrast between it and the gray, sorta disappointing. I wanted that nice 2 tone difference and the puddy is more of a light gray and our interior panels are almost off white rather than gray. I hope it lightens up, I'm sending back my panels too, sent gray rather than puddy. Tards.....
BTW Hand hurting like an mfer. All bruised up from the tin snipping. Finished the back seat, putting it in this afternoon. I wish I had seattlemax's colors now, which we should have gotten.....

Upon careful reconsideration of my now installed back seat,
I still don't like the puddy match, lying sacks. I'm going to lighten the inserts sometime soon. The rest looks good. They are sending the new panels....

I haven't had a chance to compare my kit inside the car, but the puddy is CLEARLY way off. It is nothing like the puddy sample I saw at Katzkin. The Platinum seems to be pretty good, just the puddy sucks. For those of you out there that ordered a kit with Puddy, what can we do about this? Possibly contact Eric and complain, and try to get a discount?
The other thing is, how come the front seats don't have holes for where the two headrest poles goes in?

Note to all, be real careful taking off the front seat cushions. My hands are all cut up now, so I gotta stop for a while
They have some instruction on their site. Not the part I'm looking forward too. You have to tack up the fabric on the door panel and the leather piece, then smooth it down and quickly stuff it around the back. Sounds like a party

hi, im not part of this group deal but im also installing my custom leather seats at the moment. right now, i have the rear seats and front passenger side completed.
from what i understand, to install the inserts, the whole door assembly needs to be removed and the inserts taken out from behind. i believe they are held in by some brackets. if you have cloth, spray the adhesive onto the cloth and smooth out the vinyl onto the cloth. then staple the vinyl onto the backing, making sure everything is tight. this is what i got from speaking to a rep from leatherseats.com. it sounds a bit tedious, but if you want it to look right, i think this is the only way to do it.
i have found it best to work with 2 people. also, becareful when removing the back panel of the front seats. start from the bottom, there are 4 white plastic snap ons, remove them and the panel will come off. DO NOT try to pry it from the top or you will break off the anchors, like i have done
. i hope this helps.

That is exactly what i was looking for in terms of the door inserts. And I have I have to agree with you, those plastic clips have been by far the most difficult thing to keep in tack. I love the way this is turning out though! And Im having a great time doing it!

Alright, I'm becoming more pleased with the seats over the last 2 days. Went by a place today and asked if they could lighten the color in the middle a little and they said no prob, but it wouldn't be much. Wiped it down with some solution, wouldn't say what, but promised it wouldn't hurt the leather. Told me to let it dry in the sun and it would be a little lighter. Too true, looks a little better to me anyway. I'll post pics later.
Question though, how do you do the headrests themselves? Do you have to cut off the old cover? No seams to pull it off without it I don't see. Anyway, got one front done, bled all over the place. Looks tight though. Note: The mist gray is a little light, near the color of the center console. Works, but I may see what the upholsterer says about it.

the cloth headrests are held together by 2 long plastic strips, picture 2 "U"'s, kinda like a bra i guess
, or even tuxedo pants. u need to push them together instead of apart to get the headrest covers off, they should come off quite easily. i guess u can leave them on but i took mine off.

Driver’s side and passenger’s back part the same, but the bottom parts different. Passenger’s side has plastics attached to it. Drivers don’t have them. Just compare cloth covers to them that are all. They make everything identical to each other. Let me know if you have more questions. I will post my pics later.

Tomorrow I'll start the door inserts. Very pleased with my seats, and the colors match very well. I was worried for weeks, they look nothing like the website.
Hope your GT-R logos came out good! I only got the front two done up with 4th gen style 'MAXIMA'; I was contemplating getting all 4 done but I think just the front is perfect.
My total install took me about 12 hours. My right hand was totally dysfunctional by the end of the install. It was cut up bruised and I couldn’t bend it. But overall satisfaction was good. I loved the way everything came out. Attaching pictures bellow for everyone to see.
Sorry for bad pics better images coming up soon.

Nice work GTR, I'm minutes from being done, but I don't want to screw up the lumbar arm on the inside of the drivers side seat. Still not sure how to punch that through without messing anything up, but all the rest is done. I'll have some sweet pics real quick like. - V

Call Eric at 1-866-639-7328 ext 104. He is very familiar with this group deal and handled every one of our orders. I wouldn't be surprised if you got some kind of deal, they seem very easy going there.
My overall satisfaction is about 93%, and although I don't think I would ever install them again myself (once is enough, despite being actually fun for the most part...) I would buy from them again.
They lost 5% of my satisfaction for very late shipping and losing my contact info. And I never got an email with a tracking number. The other 2% was for not cutting any holes. Eric told me you simply slip them over, hog tie them and your good to go. Never mentioned the PITA hole punching for everything... But quality is top-notch, and they matched my Beige interior very well. Worth every penny, the look is incredible. If you do order I suggest going with the flat-non-perf inserts. They are a tighter snugger fit.
