I could concur that you guys were pretty intensed when I was there standing in front of your door.

No problem, I am glad that you solve the problem before the new year coming. I don't know your name, but I will give you guys a call on Monday morning next week.

If Fabio is no longer in the circle, so be it. I'll just have to find a reputable shop to install the pulley here in Milwaukee/Chicago area.

Thank you for the explanation,

Armand

Anybody with a 2002-2003 ordered and/or installed this RVM UDP? I just want to make sure it will fit, and also of exactly what belt/s to get, and from where?

On 2002-up

The owner of Frankencar put it on his 2002 max, he was very happy with it. There is a post detailing everything on it on the org,

Let's cut to the chase . . .

Is it worth spending $80.00 (or any amount of money, for that matter) to purchase a UDP? I've read through this entire thread and I've yet to find a single post that indicates a performance increase as a result of installing it. Actually, the only hard information I was able to find indicated a performance DECREASE as a result of installing it. And on top of that, it's something of a PITA to install.

What I'm looking for are FACTS as opposed to opinions. I'm not interested in purchase decision justifications based on esoterics ("gee, it's a whole lot prettier than the stock pulley") or emotional pleas ("it's got to be worth it cause I spent my money on it and I'm no dummy").

Thanks in advance.

Forum rule number one. Never do battle with a moderator.

I'm just trying to help some Org members make reasonable purchase decisions, emax95. But it doesn't surprise me that some individuals might take offense at being confronted with the facts. FYI, I've researched this subject pretty thoroughly. So I'm fairly well acquainted with the facts. I'm open to new information, however.

Got some?

This is not the first time you shared your "facts" in a pulley group deal though.

I think I posted this earlier in the thread, but I could tell that my car is stronger on the low-end after installing the pulley. It's an Auto and seems to shift at lower revs under the same driving conditions - like the engine doesn't have to try as hard. Haven't kept a close check on the gas mileage before and after so can't comment on that. Also haven't been to the track yet with the pulley...

Hmmmm. Did the owner of the fastest all motor maxima happen to dyno his maxima before and after he added the UDP? What were the results?

I assume the UDP is the only mod you've added since the last time you were at the track. If so, please keep us posted on your next track results. Thanks.

Yes he did, from the dyno before the UDP he did 214.6 WHP, the next dyno was done and a UDP was added,he put down 229.2 WHP. Did I mention a Y-pipe was added on his car too?

I have been using UD pulleys for years. I measured an improvement of .2 on an 88 5.0 Mustang that I installed ASP pulley's. This Mustang had an air pump and of course a water pump pulley that our Maxima's do not have so there is not as much gain to be had on our Maxima's. I later installed ASP,s racing crank and got .3 improvement. Fact is when you slow down an accessory by driving it slower it doesn't take as much hp to turn that accessory. One added benefit is accessory longevity. If you turn your alternator, ps and ac slower they will last longer and also the rpm that our engines turn it sure might help to eliminate damaging the alternator at high engine rpm. These Maxima's do turn some rpm.

On my 98 Camaro I got .1 improvement and about 8 hp with the crank pulley.

I have installed an underdrive on my Maxima and I dynoed 215 hp before and 220 hp after. However, I did measure about 6 pounds less peak torque. Maybe a quirk, I don't know. The dynos were done on different days so who knows. I'm just reporting what the dyno said.

I do recommend the UD pulley's just because I have seen such good gains on other cars I have owned. Whether you can measure it or not the gains are there!

Very interesting, emax95. But I'm not quite sure I have the facts straight. Are you saying that he gained 15 hp with a UDP and a Y-pipe or with the UDP alone? If it was just with the UDP, I'd find that a bit of a stretch. And if it's with the UDP and a Y-pipe, I'd attibute most if not all of the gain to the Y-pipe.

Most importantly, however, is the fact that he has not attempted to explain ][ 35's experience. Why do you suppose he gained performance with his UDP when ][ 35 actually lost performance with his?

I chipped a couple teeth on my flex-plate when trying to get the main pulley bolt off.
Long story short, I got a used flexplate for $65 and did the work myself. Was fun!

Dennis, $87 US and you do need belts. They are around $40 Cdn but most folks need new belts anyway.

PS Got mine today at 11:42 AM. Great service. Thanks

Just got my udp today (three buisness days after ordering). It looks great and I dont believe I paid any extra fees. I plan on redynoing my car after the install to clear up all this hype.

Nice! Thats what I'm waiting for. Some before/after dyno runs from various cars. If there is a reasonable difference I'll order one.

I apologize for the inconveniece, but a 1,100 dollar AEM computer is no joke, and the matter had to be handled.

Fabio sounds very familier to me for some reason. I think a guy named Fabio tried screwing me on an intake I ordered from him through the net. Maybe its the same dude.

Re: Pulley Deal

Eli,

I was planning to give you a call to take up on your offer for the 50% pulley price (for waiting outside your shop when you were having trouble with Fabio), but I don't have your phone number anymore.

Can I e-mail you instead?

Let me know,

Armand
