The rings on the DDE's turn on depending on what you wire them to. If its the parking light, then they will turn on when the parking lights are on. But if you wire them to the headlights, then only when the headlights are on.
Thanks anskyruben. I assume the light box will be accessible from outside the HID itself? And what do you mean by parking lights...is that 1/2 turn of the headlight switch? I'd like them to come on both with and without the HID, is that possible?

I know I can have this wired to the parking lights, but can I have a switch installed inside the car where I can turn on/off the AE's with the parking lights on like the fog lights?

I am no expert on this, but if you install a separate switch, you should really use a relay to go with it. If you dont, then you are applying power directly from the switch to the bulb, and depending on how much current the bulb pulls as it starts up, you can get arcing between the contacts. Not good at all. A relay (which are hermetically sealed?) prevents arcing.

Correct me, somebody, if I am mistaken. If you tap the angel eyes into the existing lines to the parking lights, you are already going through a relay. I am considering disconnecting the parking lights altogether, since the angel eyes will be taking their place.

Yeah the light box is very accessible. You can actually mount it in various places under the hood. When I say the parking lights I mean the orange lights that are in the headlight. I do believe it is the the 1/2 turn. When you wire them to the parking light you will be able to turn them on with or without the headlights (HID'S). That is the way I have them wired.

Don't you mean, the small white light in the headlight? Cause aren't the orange ones only used as blinkers?

you are provided with a relay with the product.
the blue trigger wire runs to a 12V DC switch and presto, the other side runs to a hot lead (cigarette lighter is the best). Then you can switch them on and off at your whim.

As for the video.
Install video is complete.

RIGHT CLICK THIS LINK AND SAVE TARGET AS FOR THE VIDEO - PLEASE PASS THIS AROUND TO THOSE THAT NEED IT - IT'S AVAILABLE FOR A VERY SHORT TIME ONLY WITHOUT PASSWORD and IS 67MB.

Document coming soon.

You cannot see the fiber optics at all. They are all covered with shrink wrap and vinyl sheathing.

I'm still working on the install guide. It's NOT easy.

I expect to begin shipments this coming Tuesday.

MEA CULPA.

I've NOT completed the guide and as a result will be delaying shipment for 3 days while I complete it and include it inside every kit.

Please don't worry, just a minor delay.

Sigh, I'm VERY sorry to y'all, I had really hoped to get them shipped out yesterday, but I have been tasked with too many things that were extremely pressing

So, please, please, please forgive my delay til at least Saturday for shipping. I really want to be able to ship both the video and the install document at the same time, and I'm just not able to put it together as quickly as I would like

I'm definitely the only one up at this time...
But the install document is completed!!!!

www.umnitza.com - select "DDE" - go to the installation resources section on the right side, you'll see MAXIMA. There is a LARGE - high rez - and SMALL - low rez document.

I will keep them free for the time being.

Have at it Spread the news please that both the video and install guides are complete.

Don't bother calling me today. It's my 7 year anniversary with the wife. I'm sure I'm in the dog house, but I'm taking her out tomorrow. Let's hope it makes up for being up this late!

Did you bake the housing with the hid ignitor, and wiring/harnesses still attached? Is that okay to do? The video and install guide make no mention of removing them. Only the bulbs and the ballast.

Um, both the video and the install guide show the REMOVAL of those items.

The first sets ship to me tomorrow, I should be able to get most all of them in your hands by the end of the week.

There is a link to the video in this thread, a few pages back. He doesnt have it on his website yet.

As far as my question about the ignitors, the video shows you unplugging the ignitor (I believe that is the ignitor, separate from the ballast, behind the screw off cap, which is what plugs onto the xenon capsule.) Then the xenon capsule, and then unscrewing the ballast from the housing. And then removing a couple of the other bulbs. It didnt show what you did with the ignitor. I am planning on removing it anyway, I am just not sure how to get it out of there yet, since the wires go through a grommet in the back of the housing. I may be mistaken, maybe that is just a harness that the xenon bulb plugs into.

Anyway, I have never taken the housings apart before, so I will figure it out as go along.
