shaved door handle kit anyone?

ok so i had a couple of people ask me how and where to get a shaved handle kit, so i figured i would throw one together.
what it would include is
the 6 channel keyless entry unit and 2 remotes
2 15lb solenoids(i have had them on my car for 3 years without a problem)
2 door poppers
backup button
all wiring and instructions

all these parts come from autoloc, which is the leader in shaved kits ( they developed the 50 lb solenoids for hot rods)

in addition, i will make the metal filler plates for 3rd-5th gen cars, so you can either have a body shop weld them in, or i can include a pack of jb weld, which is epoxy welding, and you can do it yourself. i did my forst car with that and never had a problem, the only one that i am iffy on is the 3rd gen since the handle goes to the edge of the door.

all the above would be 215 plus shipping( probably like 15 bucks, ill charge actual shipping)

if you have a multi function alarm with 2 channels you can dedicate to the doors then without the keyless unit would be 175 plus shipping

if you want a 6 channel alarm instead of the keyless unit it would be 265 plus shipping. the alarm would be a prestige Platinum Plus APS-510A

(if i get enough people interested i may be able to get the kit a little cheaper)

show season is comming up.....................................

there's no place you can put the popper on the rear unless you take out the door light switch. it will probably open just fine without them anyway, i took mine out when i painted the car and never put them back in( for the front). doors open fine. it really is more of a trigger to keep the door from lacthing back closed. each solenoid is 20-25, i have to double check if the alarm can handle 4 seppt optional channels though. honestly it will probably be more work than it is worth to have all four open electronically(only my front do,usually you need to open the drivers door anyway, so i just reach in and pop the back) but if thats what you want i can get them

yea if you put the backup button int he trunk or something because they can just find that ( anyone who has seen gone in 60 seconds to other autophiles know that there is a secondary button.

you can hook up seppt buttons in the car for the rear doors if you want. i was going to do that, but i realized i didnt really want the back opening seppt. the alarm does arm and unarm seppt from poppoing the doors open.

are you talking about the factory alarm or the one you are offering in this deal? do we keep the factory remote after we get this done anyhow seeing as how we dont need to 'lock' or 'unlock' our doors anymore... or would we need to keep it just for the trunk popper?

you would have to piggy back the factory alarm in order to still have an alarm, bu6 there is no need for the actual remote because you can pop your trunk with the keyless entry brain

each channel is a function you can do with the alarm, so arm and unarm are usually one(but it can be two, ill check) each door would be one and popping the trunk would be one. each additional solenoid is 30 bucks, so add 60 to whichever package you want in order to get all four

Hey shavedmax,

Have your tried using actuators instead of solinoids? At my shop we switched over to 11lb actuators about a year ago, their as quiet as a factory doorlocks and pop just about any door including heavy chevy truck doors.

Also instead of using the infamous outside hidden button for backup I like to use a magnetic reed switch mounted around your window somewhere. Just keep the magnetic side on you keychain. If you need to get in just swipe it outside the windshield and your in.

BTW - Your max is off the chain!

people sometimes comfuse actuators with solenoids, not saying thats the case with you, but i've called them both. if it's a linear actuator it wouldnt work, besides the cost(a hundred bucks at least each), and the size, they go both ways, and all you really want is just a one way jerk to pull the latch open. they have stronger ones, up to 75lb, but thats overkill. plus they do make alot of noise. you open your door and everyone drop to the ground thinking a gunshot went off, lol.

i personally dont have a switch on the outside of the car. besides the obvious reason, if your battery goes dead you still cant get into the car. i have my ways, but its a secret ill keep to myself. but i really like the reed switch idea. got any more info on it?

Hey shaved... Read how you are going to include the door fillers but your iffy on the 3rd gens. I have been checking out my car at the shop and seeing how its getting done. and what he said the best way for handles like ours is that when its welded into the body on the door and grinded down you also need to have it grinded down on the inside as well. (like where it ends at the door) That way it will not crack or damage in any way. So if you made the filler I'm thinking you could make it for the size of the handle area, then the person would have to weld/grind themselves. If you get what I;m saying it makes sense lol.
**just trying to help**

i am making it for the size of the handle so it can be welded in place, i am just iffy on wether epoxy welding the fillers in will work or not. it will work, jb weld is great, but the door edge will not be metal, and when you open the door, you will still see the bump where the handle was. i cut that out of my car and welded a new piece in, and it looks completely factory now, but for your shade-tree bodyman that doesnt have a mig welder the only option is to jb weld it.

get some pics up of your car in progress when you get a chance!
