Group Buy deal on some Place Racing Cold Air Intakes!!
Well I already had a hacked airbox and had removed my resonator, so the sound is similar except now it comes from deeper in the engine bay. Does make a nice quiet whistling noise at idle (from outside) and if you floor it you'll hear a nice sucking noise just before the engine revs.
An intake is an intake for the most part; the CAI's true strength is in the summer where it cuts intake air temp significantly. Since it's about freezing here and I won't be driving at all once they start salting the roads, I don't have much to say about performance, sorry. I will say that I haven't noticed any loss of throttle response whatsoever, which was a concern of mine. Also, a CAI will flow better (smoother path) than the stock box and resonator jumble so it should result in a small performance gain over stock.

No, I haven't recieved mine either. I have been out of town for the past week. If I do get it before Friday and installed, I have a dyno pull scheduled for TrackMasters (SOW) on Saturday and my final run at the HSV Track at Test-n-Tune on Sunday.
So, the size hole that will need to be cut is a 3.5" dia? Someone please confirm this.

Elon, you still up for a get together when they come in? What time are you scheduled for at SOW on Sat? I have crap to do Sat night, but I think I am free Sat morning. I just have a feeling that I will need an extra set of hands for the install, or at least another brain to make sure I do not do something stupid like use the saw on the battery. j/k

Question for the group, will the filters be arriving ready for use? (i.e. pre oiled and ready for install)

3" is really not big enough. I used a 3.5" hole saw and it's just perfect. Once you add the plastic/rubber edge protector (included) to the hole, there's just a tiny bit of play to allow movement of the tube as the engine moves but not enough to allow much engine bay air down where the filter is.
3.25" might work but I'd really go with 3.5". With a 3.0" hole you will not be able to use the rubber edge protector and you'll scratch the intake tube on the sharp edges of the hole. Sorry I don't have pics of the hole I made.

BRIAN CATT'S EMAIL:
To our CAI group deal customers,
If you're receiving this email, its because although Place Racing
informed us that the batch of orders yours was a part of would be
shipped before they shut down for Thanksgiving week (meaning shipped
on or before 19 November), we determined yesterday that your order
will not be shipped until this week. We told everyone what we
believed to be true, that these would go out by the 19th, but I'm
afraid we were all let down.
I can't express how embarrassed we are about this. We pride
ourselves in our customer service, but since this group deal is based
upon shipping directly from the Place Racing warehouse, we're
dependent on their very limited staff to get the orders shipped. We
had a very definite agreement with them about how the shipping was to
be handled, and they have not kept up with the schedule. Everyone's
parts will of course be shipped, but we are very sorry that the
timing hasn't worked out as expected.
I found a way to access the tracking numbers for your orders, so as
soon as those are available, Greg or I will send them to you via
email. Place Racing has committed to getting them out in the next
couple of days and we will be very closely monitoring the situation.
All we can do at this stage is to offer our sincere apologies. Greg
Nanez is handling the group deal and a lot of the related
correspondence, but I wanted to address this problem myself.
Brian C Catts
It sucks but what can we do???
Brian has been very good at replying at each ones questions and concerns, but anyway the price is too good to be complayning about 1 or 2 more weeks!!

Is the cleaner solution always going to be 25 bucks or is that on sale too?
