I received my CAI on thursday (12/2). They were out of silver, which was my first choice, so I got blue. I sanded it down that night and then yesterday, had one of my painter's shoot it silver. Looks nice! Can't wait to install it. Probably next week saturday.

We still have some CAI for both of your cars. Let me know if you have any questions.

The site itself says that the original source of that testing data is dubious. For all we known Apexi fabricated those test results. I'm going to look into filter tests but I still would like to see some evidence of foam filters disintegrating under normal use....

Well let me know. The test makes sense to me.

Let me know what you find. Until then, this test makes sense to me, I mean how well can foam really filter?

If I find lots of independent accounts and tests that point to Apex'i being the best by far and foam filters being the worst by far, only then will I believe it. The burden of proof is on them. I'm not biased towards any type of filter; I just believe skepticism is healthy.

Yeah, I know that AEM bypass valves are specifically engineered to fit their new AEM two piece CAIs, and I've been doing some research trying to see if it would fit a PR CAI but haven't gotten any success, I heard some people put the bypass on Injen CAIs but haven't found any instructions or pictures, heard you have to cut the injen CAI to make it fit though, at least thats what I got from a guy that was sellin the intakes. I'm getting a PR too, hopefully will receive it soon, anyone ever tried putting a bypass on the PR CAI, please help! Thanks

"The vacuum created in the intake system when the filter is submerged in water forces the flaps open."
You could put the CAI vs water issue into perspective this way... We've probably sold over 1500 of these during the last 5 years and no one has ever written back to say that they hydrolocked their engine. My not hearing it oesn't mean it has never happened, but its a pretty clear indication it happens VERY seldom, if at all.
As some have indicated, you can theorize how this could occur in a circumstance beyond your control, but it really comes down to using common sense and not driving through water that's deep enough to submerge the lower half of your car.

I didn't anticipate this, but I checked with PR and they tell me there seem to be a few units that have been in inventory since switched over from K&Ns to Monsterflows about 3 years ago! By far the majority will be Monsterflows, but you might just get a K&N - both are good.

They can clean it, but unless that person has Monsterflow's tackifier spray, its not possible to restore the filter's original filtration capabilities.
The filter element has to be lightly sprayed with tackifier after cleaning, which is silicone-based rather than an oil. Spraying K&N-type oil on the Monsterflow filter will ruin it instantly.
