Group Buy deal on some Place Racing Cold Air Intakes!!
All CAI GD orders made through 15 March have shipped
Sorry that the notification hasn't gone out, but all the CAI orders received up through 15 March shipped last Wednesday and Thursday (16/17 March), so all should arrive by tomorrow (24 March).
We are collecting new orders now for the next batch. Just to update, we have these Maxima/I30/I35 CAIs left in the group deal:
92-94 SE - red, blue, yellow, and silver
89-91 GXE/SE and 92-94 GXE - one yellow
95-96 - red, yellow and silver
02/03 - yellow
If you don't see what you want in the group deal, we have our silver and all-black Cattman CAIs available for all the 89-03 applications, on sale at 20% off our regular prices of $220 for silver and $215 for black.
Finally, and this is important, Greg (Nismomaximagtr) has managed the group deal up to now, but since things are winding down I (Cattman) will take over until the remaining Place Racing inventory is sold. Please address all correspondence to me (I prefer email to a PM) from this point on.

We still have several 95/96 group deal CAIs in every color but silver (just one silver). Send me a quick email and I'll provide a phone number for placing the order.

Sounds like a distinct possibility. Is there a silver (billet aluminum) MAF adapter attached to the lower (longer) tube? If not, get back to me and we'll be glad to send one right away.

hey guys, tried to install my cai today but found out half way through the whole process that i received the wrong intake, the box says 02-03 but inside was an 00-01 intake, i called cattman and they said that they were goin to tell PR to send me the right one as soon as i send mine to them so i sent it today and it should be there by thurs afternoon.
so if anyone still wants the 00-01 cai from PR call them on thurs, its blue...i'll be gettin a yellow one since thats the only color they have left in the gd.

I'll just clarify that if someone wants to snag this blue 00/01 CAI, call Cattman Performance rather than Place Racing. I don't think they even have a publicly listed phone # anymore.

I've sent you email. We can determine if you need help with getting the correct parts, or a hand with the installation. A lot of customers install these themselves, but it is an involved process and there's a higher frustration factor with the PR-style CAIs than with a lot of parts. On the other hand, we've found mis-labelled boxes, so we'll confirm whether or not you're working with the right pieces first.

Don't use the dremel. Even though you'll probably only use it once, it will be worth every penney to buy the proper tool for this - a 3.25" hole saw (w/ a pilot bit) - and you should be able to get one at any good hardware store for $20-25. [It mounts in a 3/8" electric drill - you need a corded version, battery drills won't have the muscle.] Its the sort of thing that carpenters would use to cut a hole in a door, that sort of thing.
The hole saw makes it so easy: 1) The center of the hole is marked on the template. 2) Whack it with a punch to dimple the metal. 3) Drill a small hole there with a 1/8" bit. 4) use that hole to provide a steady starting point for the pilot bit of the hole saw, and a minute later you've got a perfect 3.25" hole, which you put the metal-reinforced plastic moulding around and then you're good to go.

I think we have a yellow one left for the 02/03, but that's about it for that application.
We still have lots of Place Racing group deal CAIs for 95/96 Maximas and 92-94 Maxima SEs.

got mine on, just using the WAI, it was a ***** trying to get the hose to get on the throttle valve/ pipe. took me and my freind 3 hrs, trying to figure how to put that damn hose on, soaking in that hose in hot water helped. sounds great though.

This is a classic "Now you tell me!" situation, but I think some of the 02/03 kits were assembled with the smaller 2.75" hose connector that has always been used between the throttle body and the upper tube in the earlier Maxima kits. But, the throttle body diameter (at least on the outside) is bigger on the VQ35 and this really requires a 3" hose (the other two hose sections in each kit are 3").
If you (or anyone else that has purchased an 02/03 CAI from Cattman Performance) would like to replace the 2.75" with a 3.0" hose, just email me with your address and I'll mail one out. [If you didn't buy the CAI from us, I'll send one out for $5.] Even the 3" hose fits snugly over the throttle body, but the 2.75" is miserable - I ended up using a heat gun to soften mine up enough (and then I replaced it when I got 3" hose sections).
I know you'll hate to take that one off after working so hard (I've done it too), but I think that it slightly restricts the airflow, so a 3" size is better.

I received my intake and cleaning kit. Thanks guys!
I'm gonna try to install it this weekend, but how I do tell the intake I received is for an 03 Maxima, my intake didn't come with any paperwork. Also, where can I find install instructions for an 03?
Thanks.

They are the same, EXCEPT the temp sensor is attached in a different way. The 95/96 upper tubes have a small hole with two screw holes on either side because that's the way it attaches to the stock airbox. The 97-99 sensor changed over to a rubber grommet and no screws, so that upper tube has a single, slightly larger hole for the temp sensor.
Bottom line, however, is that the temp sensor doesn't even need to be in the airstream - on this car it really serves a pretty nominal function. For example, the JWT POP intake doesn't even have a spot for a temp sensor (it just gets zip-tied out of the way), and if that mattered they wouldn't do it that way.
So, you could certainly seal the hole and thus use a 95/96 CAI in any 97-99 Maxima or I30 (we have LOTS of 95/96 CAIs left in the group deal, but no 97-99s).
There you go.

Now I just have to install it! Great deal, Thanks
