Group Buy deal on some Place Racing Cold Air Intakes!!

Do you know if intake should be remove in winters where snows like NY; and as long as you know did anybody have problems with sucking water and damaging engine?; I am still thinking if this intake is good for me but so afraid of sucking water/snow.

I'm In! Well, thanks to my girl, I'm in. This is perfect timing, since my B-day is coming up in a few weeks. Happy B-day to me. Silver is out for the '00, right? Damn! I guess I'm just going to have to paint mine now. Any suggestions on what color? I've got an white pearl Max....what about white pearl for the intake piping? Or is that too gay? I'm not feeling the red, blue, or definitely not yellow. I'm going to order black if still available, but don't want to keep it that way. Help me out with some suggestions. Nismomaxgtr, thanks in advance for the deals.

Actualy, this requires some clarification - NismoMaximaGTR is generally correct - the only thing you need to worry about is deep water, not rain or snow or even splashing water (which combined with heavy rain can cause hydrolock with a STOCK intake).
BUT, depending on how much the car is lowered, you want to avoid any water more than 10-12" deep because the filter will start to get submerged at around 14-16" deep. This is really quite deep, and it will be coming in over the door sills at that depth - most of us have never driven in water this deep, but be forewarned, this is a very absolute limitation.
If you live in an area that has this kind of street flooding in some seasons of the year, just pull the lower tube, and mount the filter to the MAF adapter until the wet season is over.
We've sold this intake version (the Cattman COMBO intake) for years, and its as good as any underhood filter available, and better than most. [Its just like the Berk, except that we developed it years before they did.] If your environment makes this kind of intake a better system, buy the sale CAI anyway, the price is cheap enough that its still a great deal, even if you don't use the lower tube.

Find someone in your area that chromes wheels and see what it would cost to run your parts through a batch with theirs. Chroming is typically quite expensive, its an electrolytic process and an environmental nightmare, so there are far fewers companies around that do this now than there used to be - they can basically name their own price, and do.

Two quick explanations...
Black has always been an exclusive colour for the intakes that Place Racing made for Cattman. Since all of the group deal intakes are coming from PR's inventory (not ours) they only had one kit in each of the Maxima CAIs (it takes 6 different CAI kits to cover 89-03 Maximas). We (Cattman Performance) do have black CAIs, but we paid more for them than the GD price for the other ones, so we can't afford to include them.
I have a bunch of 95/ and 97-99 Cattman All-Black CAIs (they're extra cool because we use black clamps too, which sets them apart from the PR versions), and will sell them for $180 + shipping instead of $225 but this is entirely separate from the GD on the Place Racing CAIs.
Regarding the cleaner kits, two points need to be made. First, DO NOT use an oil-based K&N solution on the Monsterflow filters, it will ruin them instantly. There's nothing I can recommend other than the silicone-based Monsterflow tackifier spray, which gets lightly misted over the filter after cleaning and drying. It is just as critical to the filtration properties as the oil on a K&N.
Second, sorry about the mixup on the cleaner kit price. When the group deal prices were calculated, I thought that Place Racing had these on hand and could just stick them in the CAI boxes when they ship from CA - this could be done for $20, shipped. Turns out they don't have any tackifier spray, so I'm shipping them separately from Tucson. Worse yet, I can't find them at the price I used to so I'm paying a lot more per can. So, our cost for the kit is almost $20 and if I didn't charge the extra $5 we'd be losing money after paying for shipping.
So, look at it this way, the cleaning kit's still $20, but I have to charge $5 for shipping.

Finally, for those who are considering painting their CAIs. One advantage of powdercoat is that it never flakes off.
So, its fine to paint the outside of the tubes if you can find something to stick to the powdercoat, but don't do it on the inside.

Is it really 11/30 the deadline to buy them?
For any of you installing your CAI yourself, I would highly recommend this also. 1. Clean out your Throttle Body. 2. Take out the stock Intake Resonator. You might see some gains from that too. Heres some links. http://www.4dsc.com/articles/drivetr..._removal.shtml & Here's for the TB Cleaning http://www.geocities.com/bracecraig/maxima/tb/tb.html Have Fun!!!
Ok. I read all the posts and I looked at the install links. I just want to make sure that on my 2k2 SE that the fuse block bolted to the fender next to the batter will fit back into the stock location when the install is complete... If that's not an issue, I'm in .. it will be my first mod .. I've already had the car for 9 WHOLE DAYS and havent done anything to it yet!! ... Im also looking at Tok Blues vs. Illuminas and what springs ... descisions descisions ...
