Wow this is a great deal. Do you have a shop setup in the GTA? Sorry didn't read through the entire thread...

I used to have a shop set up in the GTA but the deal with the landlord went really sour and we lost a lot of money moving. For now we just focus on warehouse shipping in Canada and the United States to wholesale and retail customers.

The recommended spring reates are 8/6 for normal street handling and 10/8 for track / racing.
Stock SE spring rates are stiffer in the rear if I recall correctly. Shouldn't the coilover spring rates be similer, ie for autocrossing which is what I would use them for shouldn't I go with stiffer in the rear like 8/10 or go with all the same like 9/9? What would you recommend?

*EDIT* just looked into it more and saw the spring rates on some other coilovers and saw that they are all stiffer in the front which makes sense with are front weight bias. Still I am curious as to why the stock rates are stiffer in the rear.

Somewhere on the boards or in a link (I don't recall right now), it said the stock SE rates were 7/5. I doubt if the stock rear rate is higher than the front for the reasons posted above by SLC98Mmax.

So far it looks like I'm the only one who has paid up. If you guys are having second thoughts you're crazy. This will be the last time you see this price. Also keep in mind spring rates can be changed by just changing the springs on the coilovers. Mark said he would post prices up for additional springs for those of you who would like more options or can't make up your mind.

I just looked it up. The springs rates for my A33 Tein S.Tech springs is:

Front 3.6 kg/mm - 201 lb/in
Rear 4.8 kg/mm - 268 lb/in

I hate how they feel bouncy (almost like cut springs) on certain sections of the freeway. I always thought it was b/c they were too stiff, but these #'s seem much lower than stock?

Yeah, those are low rates. No wonder they're bouncy.

I'm leaning toward going with 9/6. That is the rate on the JIC's.

60% of the car's weight is on the front wheels, therefore a higher spring rate would be needed to have a balanced set up. If you want 8 on the rear, you should probably go with 10 on the front. That set up would be very stiff, though. OK for a lot of racing, but would be way too rough for me on the street.

Thanks for everyone who called and ordered today. That is a total of 5 orders paid by credit card. I will post an updated list tomorrow night with a full list of the credit card and PayPal payments.

Feel free to call after hours or on the weekend to place the order as that is usually the best time I can be reached.

I've seen a lot of coil springs with the rear rates higher than the front, don't know why that is, doesn't quite make sense to me. But with coilovers for some reason they are all the opposite way.

I just called and put down my deposit.

98Mike, Mark doesn't need the spring rate to take your order. You can let him know that later. I'm not sure what rates I'll get. I'm going to call next week to let him know.

Would a higher rear rate be for RWD cars?

7/5 = approximately the stock se springs. probably not stiff enough for much of a drop.
8/6 = slightly stiffer, should give you a good range of drops with a decent ride.
9/7 = pretty stiff, but you should be able slam it, basically.
10/8 = getting very stiff, probably not the best for street use.

any higher is going to be pretty much a race setup.

(this is based on what i've gotten from this thread and a few others... if i get anything wrong someone please correct me, i'm not an expert or anything.)

I have 19's and I want to have them tucked but I also want a close to stock ride. Also I do have a heavy system in my trunk. I know it sounds like "I want to eat my cake", and yes thats right if it can be done. What combination would suffice, I was thinking of 8/6?

8/6 seems like it should be okay. you might want to go with a stiffer spring in the rear than you would otherwise if your system is REALLY heavy, maybe more than 150 lbs or so, because that would change the weight distrobution of the car.

I concur with this info.

I'm going to start with 8/6 I think. If it's lighter than I'm expecting, I'll spring (no pun intended) for the 9/7's some time. I'll call tomorrow to order if your around on Sundays, otherwise Monday morning some time.
