#243
Got mine today . From the first over look its a well made hood with only a couple weave flaws. I will inspect it totally a little later but from what a saw it was a $300 purchase well spent.
Thanks for setting this up man!

Wow, Very nice hood... On par with the Vis hoods ive seen, Can not beat it with a stick for 300 dollars.
ONLY complaint: The clear coat is a little rough in a couple a small spots. One spot almost looks like 1/4 of an inch finger print mark....Some very very fine steel wool will take care of it, its on the surface- like someone touched it with clear coated on their hand, after the hood's clear coat dried. They could have taken a tid bit longer on the clear coating process, getting it completely smooth and even, you can actually still smell it. Dont get me wrong though, very minute bleamishes...
Im going to put a nice coat of Mothers Wax on her... I should have installed pictures by the latest on Saturday.
Other points of interest :
-No weave mistakes
-Its actually a Fiberglass skeleton not the stock steel frame, like originally stated.
-Weighs in at 12 lbs on my utility scale.
-Looks great (lets hope fitment is as good as it look)
Hood pins that will be going on it
Close up of weave
Cant wait to get the kit on too.

Sorry, the weather sucks here, but this is all I got to show right now, its already dirty :*(
Fitment was pretty good, I need to mess with the latch a bit, its not working at all, and the passenger side hood-fender gap is nonexsistent at this point

Looks good^^^ how long did it take you to put it on? How hard were the hood pins to do? That is my only fear is drilling holes in the hood then the hood pins do not line up. Thanks for any help.

Took me about 1h 45 min. but I did it myself, if you have someone holding the old hood and new one guiding it on and off, it would make it 7x's easier. Hood pins are easy, put them in the rad support, not put some red, yellow, blue, ect paint on the top of the pin. Shut the hood on them, now look at your hood, and begin to drill that spot with a small bit and work your way up. Its ok if you make it a bit big too, because its covered by the top pin.
risingmist: thanks you
Im going to try to get it sprayed off tomorrow and take some nicer pictures, I just ran out and took those after i got home at 3am

so just to clarify this deal was just for those 5 people, or those 5 peopl were just to get a set going, but there is a chance another group of 5 or 10 can be rallied up and get the deal going again?
I from reading a bunch of people didnt/couldnt get on since it was christmas time and it wasnt the best timing for them, is there a chance such a deal could be brought back to life? $300 shipped is sucha good deal its crazy, hopefully it can be set back up in a few weeks, I hope to have the money by then and need to replace my deer modifieded hood.

That sounds familiar

so you drilled from the inside of the hood to the outside and it did not tear up the top at all? What kind of drill bits did you use? The reason I ask is because I would like to know if you were using a high end (snap on) or lower end (black and decker) drill bit. Thanks for the help.

I just bought these off of ebay

-I am guessing they will work, they have the post that goes in the rad. support then just put the pin through the top.

Any standard hoodpin will work.
The locking type that were posted before are really the only ones that will not work.
The way hood pins work is that the actual post is mounted to the car(bolted onto the car either in an existing hole or you have to drill), the post goes through the hood(after you drill the hole) and the pin goes through the post which eliminates the hood from coming up past the locking pin. The locking pin is what actual is holding the hood down.
This is the best pic of the post I have. Its mounted in the rad. support.
I used a sliding latch type.
I wanted to stay a bit different.
Sorry, I cannot tell you where I got them, (anchient Chinese secret)

What do you mean?
The post connect to the car by simply bolting onto it. The post has a nut on the bottom of the mounting area and one on the top. You tighten them both towards each other.
Its that simple.
The pins attch to the post either by small pin holes in the post or by locking onto them like mine.

Ok Flavor I looked at the 1st pic that you have there now I guess the question is was WHY in that spot, also did you have to drill into that spot or was there a hole there already. I am not trying to be a hard @s$ I am just askeing because I am getting one and I just want to be correct where things go.
