Uh, so you are telling me that the 50w 4300K that I bought from you will basically look like stock halogen at 3300K? I'm changing them to xenons to fit my stock 4300K HIDs, not to look like I run halogens :| If I knew that before ordering I would have gotten 6000K to look like 5000K.

I guess I'll try to install them when I get them, but if they look like halogens, that's going to be a major **** off.

35w HID = 3x the light of 55w halogens
50w HID = more.

I think 3000K in 50w would be quite yellow, and he even has the custom colour yellow, which is more yellow. There are pics in I cant remember which page of this thread, just check all pages for pics. Your choice I guess.

I have personally ordered 50w 4300K H3 fogs from him, I hope I'll get them today or tomorrow and I'll post pics, but thats going to be too white for you if you want yellow.

I ordered the digital 50W kit. Didnt get it today though, probably tomorrow.

It comes with all the wiring stuff to do it properly.

It seems that 50w kits are approx 1000K lower in colour compared to 35w, so I'm not sure if the 4300K 50w kit will match the factory HIDs, I'll know when I install them tomorrow if the post finally delivers them.

I think you would be happy with a 50w 3000K digital kit.

^^^^^^ on ok well hope you get them soon and get satisfying results though I read somewhere on the org that since foglight lenses are different than headlight lenses it impossible to get a 100% matching colors but it will be pretty close. Please update me when you recieve them, then I will see what you have to say and i will order them.

hey operatic i need something yellow like lexus fogs for
my infiniti. What should i get? My bulb size is h3 for fogs. Also when ordering does the 35w and 50w matter other than the output of the light? reason is it says 55w and im worried that if i get 35w or 50w something will get damaged?is it same for headlight to when ordering for 9006 bulb and does the kelvin matter when ordering custom colors?

Go on youtube and check some "3000K HID" videos, you will see if you like the 3000K colour. It's pretty yellow. I personally prefer "all white 4300K OEM look, but thats just me, some people prefer 6000K or even 8000K with 3000K fogs, and that's allright too.)

Your housing was made to handle the heat of a 55w halogen, so a 35w or 50w hid will produce less heat. Nothing will be damaged because the kit includes a relay, too. (starting the hids draws alot of amps).

Custom colours are a specific colour, so no, you dont specify a kelvin with them.

Operatic told me that 50w kits have a tendency to have a colour that is 1000K lower than the 35w kit, so they might be harder to match than two 35w kits or two 50w kits.

How did you guys fit the HIDs into the stock fogs? you somehow need to remove the wires and rubber gommet from the plastic cap, and then fit the HID wires and gommet in there so water doesnt get it.

I think I'll cut the stock wires, remove, reattach with marettes and electrical tape, do the same to the HID wires, pass them through the stock cap and rubber grommet.

That way I wont break the original plastic cap and grimmet, and theres going to be a good seal, and I can always just convert it back to normal

Uh?

I am just done installing the H3 4300K digital 50w kit on the 2004 maxima fogs. It was a sick amount of job to find a place to mount the ballast, splice the wires, I used the stock plastic cap + rubber grommet, passed the HID wired tru them, that way I wont get water in my headlamps.

The light output is CRAZY. They light up more than my main HID projectors.
The 4300K 50w matches the main OEM projectors pretty well, I'm glad. It's white light, but again, I did not want the blueish 6000K look.

Really happy with all this, I just hope that they last for a long time now :P
Glad I did business with operatic.

operatic, I might have missed it but what brand are these? I wanted to HID my motorcycle, and am trying to find someone to go in on the deal with so we would just split the kit up. Would that be any problem, I saw that you had a motorcycle kit on the site and I assume that the regular kit is just two motorcycle kits? seems easy enough but thought I would check. Can PM me if needed.
thanks

For a deeper yellow, do a 35w ballast. Also, if your Maxima is a 2000-2003, you'll actually need an H3c kit which we only offer in 6000k or 8000k. Or you can opt to modify your fog lights if you own a 2000-2003 Maxima by pushing a screw driving into the fog light housings and pushing the metal plate forward to accept the regular H3 bulb.

Regular kevlin colors are still $130 shipped over night, custom colors are $150 shipped with a 9-13 business day turn around time.

I try to answer forum questions every day but I do get tied up once in awhile. If you ever need an answer fast, just give me a call, I'd be more than happy to answer it. 832-428-3669 names Pat

If you have a 2000-2003 Nissan Maxima, you need an H3c kit for them to fit properly into the fog light housings.

They are Car Light International Illumination. Also, as long as you and your buddy get the same bulb size, you can get the regular single xenon kit and just split it up. Just an added note though is that you may want to get slim ballast as space for HID kits on motorcycles are at a premium.

^^^^^ it is nice to hear fom you as i was worried something happened and you dissapered.(got ripped off online before so im very very nervous) i have a 2000 infiniti i30 and the sylvania site said h3-55w. So for my fogs my bestway to go is to get 35w custom yellow and for headlights 35w 6000k(might go 8000k but im scared i will get pulled over and that it will be too blue). anyway this is the question h3 or h3c but i pretty much want yellow fogs.

Is it normal that the digital ballasts make a slight buzzing noise when on?

Yeah, the 50w 4300K are slightly more yellow than the stock 4300K projectors. They are white, with a yellow tint. Not like the halogens though that are totally yellow. I would say that they are 75% the look of HIDs. They look the same when you start them but after running for a few minutes they look more yellow.

If you ever need to get a hold of me or anyone else at 3B spec, we have our numbers on the website, mine is 832-428-3669, names Pat. Just give me a call, I am near my phone more than I am near a computer.

Also, your 2000 Infiniti, the H3's should fit fine in there. I was just making sure you didn't have a 2000-2003 Maxima that need an H3c bulb for the fog lights.

I just finished installing a set of 6000k 9005 lights on my 08 Maxima. Its too bad I was too anxious to install these and not take pictures to do a write-up .

I am in love with these lights. I did have to do some minor wire cutting and I did drill a one inch hole on the plastic covers in back of the light housings. Not a big deal.... I bought some rubber master cylinder seals and used those to fill in the holes plus some clear RTV silicone to finish off the weather sealing. Maybe if you guys convince me, I can take the bumper cover off tomorrow and take a picture of where I mounted the ballasts.

happy motoring,

Oh man, I wanna see that high beam effect you were talking about how their is a shield there that just drops to make the high beam effect like in OEM bi-xenon HIDs.

It is really neat. The 08's have only one 9005 65W halogen bulb on each side that is used for the hi/lo beam.
The HID kit that I ordered is a pair of 9005 35w HIDs. So this bulb is used for both the hi/lo beam.. as soon as the hi beam is switched on, a deflector is moved out of the way for a hi-beam pattern. I'll see if I can post some pictures soon.

That is pretty cool, just like an OEM bi-xenon setup.

Operatic did you get my PM regarding the 50w 4300K H3? After like 5 minutes on they really dont match the stock 4300k.... They look like sylvania silverstars, not quite the hid look.

YAAAY i got home and there it was, my 1st HID kit! i opened it and it looked great and allthe wires look well done and it also smelled great too. i was suprised that eventhought you said there is a wait for custom colors and i still got it a day later.( i hope its the right color. heheh). I decided to get it installed by a shop that does hid conversion because, i would feel better when a pro installed it. i hope this deal last another month or two because, i am a college student and dont have money to upgrade my headlights, so ima wait and save some and buy a headlight kit too.

Oh man, you can save a lot of money just by doing it yourself. If you've ever replaced a bulb before it is the same, just with a few extra wires

How hard are these to install? Do I need to remove the front bumber? I'm gonna place an order soon.

I have an '08 Maxima without the HID's.

I have never done an install on a 2008 Maxima, so I am unsure of how difficult it is. But for any car, putting HIDs in does not require the removal of the front bumper. The only time you really need to do that is if you want a clean install. Also your 2008 Nissan Maxima uses 9005 for the low beam.
