Question nigelcmf, have you ever seen a VE powered Maxima? (92-94 SE)

Is there anyone in your area that could be a test monkey for a turbo kit? I know you would probably get a few bites if one could be made for similar prices to the 4th gen.

As far as I know there are no members with a VE in Colorado.

I apologize if this is a repost, but this is a 33 page thread.

I read you are focusing on the 4th & 5th gen? What is the status of a 5th gen kit?

Gotcha...I knew Kevin was working on it, but I didn't know the shop was going to replicate his modifications for a kit. Thanks Ice.

Actually, it's not Kev's fault. We had some manufacturing problems with his original kit and had to recall and redo stuff. All I can say is when he gets it on it's gonna kick some serious a$$! .

i was just wondering who has the fastest maxima and the fastest 4th. how much better is the turbo than the supercharger anyway. i was just asking because i was wondering if my maxima could ever be as fast as my mustang or my best friends mustang.and we run teh 1/8 mile but i think must people have the good furtune in having a 1-4 track.

At 4 PSI the turbo makes more power than the Stillen SC at 10 PSI . Stock vs. Stock there are a few years of mustang (yes, the V8) that the Max will give a good run to and even beat, they are so close it could come down to the driver. A bolt on N/A Max should take a stock Mustang but they respond better to Mods (I think), so if the Mustang is Modded it is probably over for the N/A Max. Tubo Maxes are putting down quite a bit of power but I don't think many guys have taken them to the track yet so I don't know what kind of times they will be putting down.

thanks for the info and the dyno. yea im sure some maximas could be as fast as my mustang but i know unless somebody had like 20000 to spend they wouldnt not be as fast as my friend seths 88 mustang. he gets 955 at the wheels. he has about 15000 in the engine along and he runs a 5.73 in the 1/8 mile but he still doesnt have the fuel right so he thinks when he gets that done he will get in the 5.4's on slicks no nitrous but procharged at 18 psi in a 331 block. mine is twin turbo and my twin turbo kit which uses the same turbos that this maxima kit uses but two of them. well it get just over 500 at 15psi on a stock engine but i cant keep it that high or i'll blow it. i run lilke 8.5 around town and dont get beat.

my twin t3/t4 hybird kit with intercooler and blowoff vaule for the my mustang cost me 3500 plus shipping so i just figured i would let you guys know about that.

I hope you can bust out this 5th gen kit before the 6th gen comes out. The fugliness of the new Max is surely going to boost prices on the 5th gens. It might be a good idea to push this kit so that those debating the purchase of a 5th gen Max will make a solid decision.

Also, maybe all those "i'm missing 15HP" people will use some possible compensation money towards purchasing this kit. Adding 200+ hp is better than +15

Woohooo...

I predict 8psi max on an auto tranny.. or has the limit for the auto tranny already been figured out?

I wouldn't even run that without getting a level 10 upgrade. Im gonna be runnin 4-5 psi non IC until the summer when i will upgrade to IC and hopefully a level 10 rebuild, then i'll turn up the boost to around 10-11 psi and see how it holds. the turbo puts out alot more torque than a SC does.

I meant with level 10 tranny.. as in the most boost an Auto could ever run safely. I figure if Nigel is runnin 11+ (don't know if tranny is rebuild or if it's stock internals) then an auto tranny built and all could probably run 8-9psi safely. You could probably prove 10.. but 11 would be not good for a daily driver. That's all assumption though...

Stock tranny? If not, then what psi would you reccomend for daily driving?

It's a ball bearing turbo, so that will make up for the larger turbo (ball bearing = faster spool... large turbo = lag... with them combined it should cancel out but still give me more CFM).

Maybe in the future, but not now. Full boost is estimated to be at around 4000 (start boost at about 3000). With every shift, the car should stay in full boost... the only time it won't is during launch.

That's not a big lose the maxima is not good to lunch anyways when power is involved. Sometimes I wish we had rear wheel drive. Can't wait to see it though, make sure to take some videos of that beauty!
