As far as i know, there hasn't been an auto that has been tested to see if the tranny can hold the power. I would probably contact PFI to see if they're price on there web site is correct, and i think the $4000 said installed so you should contact them about how much just the parts would be. If i had someone to sponsor me I would test my automagic, but i doubt that will happen. I have been talking to a couple of the guys at pfi and they think that the tranny will hold but they weren't a 100% on it.

What's included:
Here's what's in the kit:

1. Turbo TO4e from Turbonetics 60 trim 0.7 to 0.81 A/R (your choice)
2. Deltagate external wastegate
3. exhaust pipes (Customize existing Y pipe 2.5" and provide piping to and from Turbo, regular steel - upgrades available)
4. Oil line
5. Oil dump.
6. exhaust flanges to and from turbo
7. fuel pressure regulator (Vortech 12:1)
8. general fittings
9. Clamps, connectors etc..
10. Spearco intercooler with piping (option) Custom made 28" X 7.8" X 3.5"
11. powdercoating I/C pipes to colour of your choice
12. Battery relocation kit (not NHRA approved)
13. K&N filter

It is possible run this kit up to 20lbs of pressure. You should not run this more than 9 psi on stock internals though.

What is NOT included (options):
1. high flow fuel pump (recommended but not essential) GSS342
2. larger fuel jets/rail (not required)
3. Tial wastegate upgrade $90 (not required)
4. Blow Off Valve (up to you)
5. Turbo timer (up to you)
6. Recommended upgrade is 3" exhaust or you choke at 5k rpm.
7. Battery cut off switch (also for NHRA reasons)
8. Boost controller to adjust boost level
9. Cone filter $25

labor

If you want it fitted, let me know, we might be able to swing pretty sweet deals on the install.

You can also save about $100 for non powdercoated pipes.

Email me if you are interested. The install is VERY straightforward, but you do need the proper tools - nothing specialized either!

Nigel

Changes 3/12/2002

1. Shipping is now included to lower 48 States
2. You can subtract $900 if you provide your own wastegate and turbo.

Changes 4/23/2002
1. Added filter to kit price.
2. Corrected price to add battery relocation kit. This was an error.
3. Automatic Maxima pricing is likely to be $100-$200 more across the board because the piping is more complex and there needs to be two rubber hoses that need to be replaced with Steel braided lines.

Have you actually talked to them yet? I called them about the pricing and they said it was a mistake. I am surprised that they have not changed it yet. If you look at the pricing I posted and theirs, there is quite a difference! If you guys can get this price, I would jump on it! I will delete this thread if you guys can get that price. I hate getting caught in the middle of pricing issues, just makes me look bad!

So for you guys that actually called the shop, you should now realize that their pricing is consistent with mine. Please talk to Jeremy, don't talk to others. Jeremy is the one who does pricing, the others talk smack! ... just kidding, the others are good guys but don't really know what parts cost.

It should be about $100 more because of the piping.

Nigel, dont get too happy with the boost, getting boost happy on your first turbo is very common, but i do not think that your motor will last very long with 11.5 psi, its pretty safe, but wont be forever.

btw how does it feel, got any kills in yet?

The clutch didn't stand a chance! It kicks butt so bad! Kills? Completely blew away a (probably modded) Acura a couple of days ago. He approached me doing probably 75 in a 55. I was doing 55 cos I was talking on my cell (handsfree of course). We went from one lane to two lanes. He tried to overtake pretty aggressively (I could hear his revs go way up as he tried to pass). I decided to floor it in 4th and had 5 car lengths before I could look back!

Once you get the boost bug, you can't keep the boost down! I've been to 12 psi without any problems. I am too scared to go any higher. I have tried 11.3 at 85 F without detonation but the EGTs get warm. If I can figure out a way to cool the intake a little more, I might get more power!

It's funny just giving unsuspecting coworkers rides in it.

Ian I am going to get this kit (intercooled) when I get my insurance check.. I was wondering how much boost you are currently running? As a daily driver? Do you know if PFI SPEED has any internal engine options? like shorter rods, lower compression pistons?

Thanks,

Jason

You need to get that thing re dynoed at 12 psi man, id like to see how much it goes up from your 350 at 9.5 psi.

I know they do not have engine internals. They do not specialize in Nissans they do Hondas. If you want to swap your VQ30 for a Honda B16, they can probably help you out! They just finished a Prelude that put down 330 HP to the wheels at 9 psi! It only put down 240 at 14 psi. Upping the boost doesn't always give more power!

The guys at PFI are really good but I have had to chase them on a daily basis to finish stuff off. It's mostly the people that they use to build the piping that makes things slow. Phonecalls don't help much. Fortunately, they live 5 minutes away so I can physically go in and bug them. If you get the kit through me, prepare for a wait time of 3-4 weeks (hoping to knock that down to 2). If you get the kit through them prepare to wait! ... and wait! I have managed to convince them to stock the longest lead time parts but they do it in small quantities. The generic stuff like turbo and wastegate take about a week.

No bashing here on them cos they're really busy! Great guys, just swamped!

4-5.5 psi, probably not. It really depends a lot on the type of gas you run, plugs, altitude and ambient temperature. I can run 12 psi up here in the clouds on 12psi, 91 octane and 80F temperature but probably couldn't do that at sea level for example.

Right I know more boost does not always mean more power. The only thing is my car has 138,000 miles and I STILL want the turbo. What other accesories do I need to maintain my motor? ie. fuel pump, colder plugs. I also plan on staying at around 7 psi. Your help is very appriciated.

Nigel,
I have been through this entire thread, and I have a couple of questions for you.

What is the difference between the T3/T4, and the TO4e turbo?

I saw on page on that the Turbo TO4e from Turbonetics 60 trim 0.7 to 0.81 A/R (your choice). What does A/R mean and how do you decide which is best?

Thanks in advance

Sorry guys. Spearco increased their I/C price by $70 so the price is going up by $70. If you want a slightly smaller I/C for the original pice, that is possible.

the difference between a t3/t4 and the TO4e is the t3/t4 is a hybrid turbo... usually using the exhaust housing of a t3 turbo and the compressor housing of a t4.... the to4e is a t4

Check your compression first. If your compression is already low, don't bother with the kit until you fix your engine. If it is OK then you should be OK with the kit.

Controlling detonation is a big thing. People like Mardisgrasmax and turbomax are very knowledgeable on this subject being boosted too1 There are many others too!

Engine retard, if you can get it.
colder plugs minimum 2 step colder NGK coppers are good and cheap
get fuel pump (Walbro 255) I am thinking of having this as part of the kit. It is very important!
Fuel pressure gauge is useful.
EGT is a MUST
boost gauge is a MUST

Good luck!

turbo kit

I going to hold off on the turbo kit and get some wheels, paint and exhaust,my money is burning a hole in my pocket.
I would like to piece this kit together over the next few months.
I know this would be more$$$$ but i think it's worth it in the long run.
Will they do this?
Thanks in advance:

Yes there have been 5 orders (that I am aware of). Three are waiting to get theirs right now. The shop has been extremely slow in reproducing the kits. Actually, their exhaust shop has been slow. Once you order be prepared to wait. We are trying to reduce wait time by producing the longest lead time parts. There has been one guy waiting for over a month! I feel really bad about that so for people after him, I have asked them all to put a deposit rather than the full amount. To be down that amount of money >$4k is really bad! A $2K deposit is what has been the norm. Still a lot of money I know but better than not seeing the full amount for a long time.

We are trying to get the wait time down to 2 weeks. I have to bug them frequently and they have to use my car for fitment. There should be no excuses for fitment issues.

You would think the shop would be pushing harder so that people getting the kits get them quickly for customer satisfaction and report their findings and dynoes and more kits would be order and so on ...! ... wouldn't you?
