hood pins

my 2 cents on hood pins. after spending a nice bit of money on the carbon fiber hood, i wouldn't take a chance and not use hood pins. thats just the way it is. the hood is much lighter.

if the hood is designed properly and made properly hoodpins arent required for street use- Alot of the Supra and 3Z hoods dont require hoodpins! However if you want em, you can have them!

I wont be providing ANY warranty- the molder will, so when we get that sorted out I will let you know... he needs to be sure that his hoods will stand 140mph w/o hoodpins... and I need to be happy that he will guarantee and replace his product should it fail

I took my Fiber Images CF hood up to 130 before and FI hoods are pretty flimsy

Jon and Don there will be both styles available OEM and Vented- I initially was going to go with a non vented hood but I think we found a VERY sweet vent design...

Not to rush this. I've got a couple questions...

1. How long until we have a basic idea of the pricing.

2. When do you need the money to start rolling in?

I second that. Car is going in the shop soon, and I just need a c/f hood.

Just keep following up with the molder. I know a few guys are in a hurry, but the company seems to stand behind their products. In the end, as long it's trouble free. There will be buyers.

Just that they make them for 3rd gens, and the vent will be able to open and close from the inside.

If you rush this process then you will end up with a hood that was rushed.

I might've missed it in this thread, but did you get DG Motorsports to make this? My friend with a Protege5 told me that the hood made by them for his car is $800!

Do we have a ballpark figure on the cost?

Not sure the status of the hood that is being talked about here, but just for your knowledge we have been working on two types of hoods for a while now. A predator hood and carbon fiber hood has already been created and is currently being manufactured. Price of the carbon fiber and predator hood will be approx $250-$300.
Thanks,
Greg

It will fit 4th gen and the 5th gen will be coming soon. 3rd gen versions will be on the horizon. The hoods will be quite inexpensive due to the fact that we have exclusive selling rights for that product so in order to maintain our contract we need to sell lots.....that means low price to sell more.
Thanks,
Greg

My experience with 250-300 Dollars hoods are as follows... fading, cracking, seperation, bad quality weave, bad warranty, and generally cheap hoods.
I got into this GD making the best hood we can have for a limited amount of money (400-500) A few other molders gave me the option of 300 dollar hoods but I owned a '$300' hood and so have my friends and I didnt feel comfortable with it on my car going at any significant rate of speed.
I cant compete price wise with Greg but with my experience of his products, this hood will be alot better than any 250-300 dollar one

and no offense... but as for an ETA on custommaxima.com? I'm still waiting for my clear corners to be shipped from last october and also the Projector group deal....

just my 2 cents

Bro as I told you on your PM message, don't get so defensive. I did not post that to attack you or your product. From reading all the previous posts it appeared that the carbon fiber hood you were coming out with was dead. So I provided the info for other maxima owners that still wanted the hood.

As far as quality, the company that is manufacturing our hood is the largest hood manufacturer in the country and backs it with a LIFETIME warranty. Oh yeah and it will retail for $700 but as I stated before I am selling them real cheap to sell alot so that we can keep our exclusive selling contract.

Don't feel threatened, just enlightened.

-By the way projectors are almost done!!

sorry for getting defensive but its not exactly the polite thing to do for a company to post in someone elses thread, if you have a product to sell make your own thread

I wont tear apart your product as I havent seen it, but largest CF hood manufacturer isnt such a good thing majority of the CF hoods out there really suck like Fiber Images

I am not a company, I am not making any money off of this deal (I'm not even getting a free hood ), I just want a high quality hood that doesnt require hood pins like everyone else here, if you come out with your hood extremely soon and the quality is there even I would consider but for 250-300 its hard to believe.

I think it is kind of messed up if everyone is going to shy away from this GD, just because custommaxima.com will have one soon, I actually like this style better than the predator, it looks more stock from a front view.

Greg and carnal both are offering a good product, all it is that alot of people are waiting for this group buy to go down. To tell you the truth what is going to come down to is who ever releses theirs first will win. I have been waiting Jun for this group buy to go down, and you can get mad at greg for thinking the gd was dead. Personaly I thought it was dead to, I like the predetor and the vented one as well. But I like the look of carbon fiber better. What we are going to need is how much longer do we have to wait, the price, the deposite amount, and warrenty info. By keeping us in the dark you are going to lose the guys who want this hood, keep us posted.

I should find out the exact time table this week from the molder...

all the hoods wont be shipped together but once we get the deposits going then whoever is first to pay will get the first hood- so whoever pays early should have the hood before Sept 10th

I'm really sorry bout the wait the molder is just really busy and this is a big deal so he wants to get all other projects out of the way first!
I'll post again letting you guys know in more detail the timetable

thanks everyone!
