question about ppl and buying a car
question about ppl and buying a car
I currently have an I35 on order and it will be here in about 45 days. I was talking to a co-worker and telling him about the car when another person over heard me and asked me how old I was. I told I am 26, will be 27 in may. He started getting really upset and said that I am not old enough to own a car that nice. I'm ready to take my new TaylorMade driver out and show him my age. How old were ya'll when you got your I30/I35? Has anyone ever said anything to you about your age and your car? Thanks for letting me vent. If this kind of posting is not allowed here just let me know. Thanks again. Junkie
Re: question about ppl and buying a car
Your coworkers is just jealous that you..
1) Obviously handle your finances better than he/she can.
2) Have a larger ***** that he does and thus he vents his frustrations toward you through pety things such as new cars.
3) Make more money than he/she does.
I got my I30 when I was 25. I have friends who drive MUCH nicer cars than I do and though I don't really get too much crap for what I drive I know they do. Personally I couldn't care less. A couple of my rich friends are embarassed because they have rich parents who buy them Hummer H2's but I'd flaunt it. No 'poor' person can say that if he/she was in a situation where they were bought free nice cars they'd turn them down. "Sorry mom, as much as I love the MacLaren F1, I'd prefer to drive a 92 Ford Escort."
Flaunt it if you got it. And to heck with what they think. It's just ***** envy.

I am not letting it bother me. He is in his 60s and drives a very nice 1968 or 1969 Grand Torino, like in Starsky and Hutch. Sweet ride. He has always been a cool cat until today. Oh well. At least I don't HAVE to work on my car, but I will.
Ya, dont HAVE to but it's best to.
I told myself I wouldn't touch my I30 with mods cause I spent WAAAY too much modding my other car.
But then you notice all the things that could use improvement..Fender gap, wheel size, lack of tint, etc and then you HAVE to work on it.
I'm going to keep mine fairly simple though. Did the drop and windows already. Wheels are on backorder. After the TV, Im done.
Ya, right?
Unless of course those badass trunk A32 trunk lips become available.

I've heard just about everything when it comes to someone being "too young for a car like that." I concur with Tapio to an extent on this one - if anyone was given the opportunity to have a car like that I seriously doubt they would turn it down.
Others say that you haven't worked hard enough to earn a car like that. Obviously you have, so I wouldn't worry there. My response is that I graduated valedictorian of my high school and got a free ride in college - I think I paid my dues in other ways rather than working at a job.
I think when it all comes down to it...it's all jealousy. If someone isn't jealous of what you have, then they usually compliment it/you and are happy for you. If not...well that leaves some serious inadequacy issues on their part.

first of all, congrats to you on your new purchase. I was 20 when I purchased my I30. Nobody really gave me crap for it. It annoys me when this so called friend of yours is giving you crap for it...what does it matter to him what kind of car you have? I think he is jealous if anything.
Thanks to all. Like I said I am not letting it get to me. I'm just not going to park next to the guy. I really don't think he would do anything to my car, but I do have a witness to his saying that to me. I am jealous that you are able to get a new "I" right out of high school, but given the chance, I would have had one also.
i'm 30 and my wife tells me that I35 is for old folks..... hahaha
i wouldn't let those comments bother u.... and congrad on ur new ride... u will love it..... i told myself also that i wouldn't do anything to this car.... but DAMN... just can't leave it alone hahaha

Dude, ignore them. Just laugh. I have heard everything from, "are you in the mafia" (im italian) to "go give your grandpa's car back to him..." I was 19 when I got my 01 i30. On face value, it looks like im just spoiled, but like Meta, I too work(ed) my *** off in school. Im now a junior in college with a 3.0gpa and a nearly completed commercial pilots license. I also got the car for 14K with some damage on it (my dad's a dealer).
But yeah, i hear ya. Hang in there. Mod like you wanna, drive like you need the rush.

As far as your co-worker, don't give him a second thought. It's not like your driving a new M5. Yhea it's a nice ride and all but come on.
I bought my I30 when I was 23. People have asked me how I can have such a nice car at my age and while I am in school. I guess my car is decieving, it must seem alot more expensive than it is. I paid less than 9K for it. Being an Infiniti some people just assume it's more expensive than it is.

I know what you mean. I was 23 when I bought my 2k1 I30t. Since I look much younger than 23 people always say that I am spoiled. I've worked hard in school and it has paid off at my job. MikeD is correct in saying people look at my car and think it costs over 40k. It's stock with the exception of tint and a remote starter. I purchased this car because it offered so much for the money and I have been happy with it ever since. Just enjoy your ride, it’s a sweet car.

Nah, I was gonna go to colorado for USAF Academy, but I barely made it in, and I just didnt think the USAF was right for me. Ive trained completely civilian, and if your lookin for a pilot slot you should do so also. This will give yourself an advantage over those who may not have any flight training. Good luck if you decide to enlist. BTW, there is also AF-ROTC programs offered at many colleges, if your interested in becoming an officer right out of college.
Hope this helps some!
I got my i30t when I was 19, people hated on me cause they thought it was too nice, I felt it was borderline for being ridiculous for a guy my age but it's not like its a gs lex or a benz. I say **** the haters, its not like they can't go out and get a good deal on one too, theyre just not wise in spending their money well. The maxima is the best bang for your buck car on the road, and the i30/i35 is just what the maxima really should be.
