problem installing CAI

I installed my CAI today but I had a small problem, I didnt remove the factory ram air or tubes because of a sensor on the bottom of the ram air I was unsure of. Is that sensor the Ambient temp sensor? I want to remove the stock tubing but am unsure of what to do with that sensor, any ideas?

Yep, thats the air temp sensor. It should have a rubber gromit around it which you should just be able to pull the sensor out. Your CAI should have a hole for the sensor. What kind of CAI did u get?

Yup. The Place Racing CAI has a hole for it. It's kind of hard to get in, but you just got to force it in there.

since the sensor wont reach the CAI, does this mean I have to keep the stock ram air on or can I simply zip tie the sensor somewhere else?

It needs to be somewhere where it gets a steady flow of air. I found this out the hard way at the track when I removed it w/ my filter and the car died at about the 60' mark.

What if I splice the wire to the sensor and simply make it long enough to reach the CAI, would the increase/decrease in resistance effect that sensor reading?

That would work if you knew what you were doing. Lengthening it just a little won't increase resistance enough to cause anything negative.
