Smooth out my ride

I have a 98 i30-t The ride is too rough, When i put on new rims I choose to stick with 16" because the ride was too rough already.

What can I do to smooth out my ride, willing to spend 1000 - 1500 to do this, any air shocks or anything like that?

Willing to try anything

Thanks

I would suggest replacing your shocks with KYB GR2's. They will be smoother than stock and actually give you much better handling. I replaced my stock shocks in my 2001 I30 with them and the results were great. Mine cost 270 shipped. I think you can get your year for about 250 shipped. Install is about $150-$240 depending on the garage.

I would be willing to sacrifice handling for smooth... How much of a difference are we talking?

Also what about gas adjustable shocks? any opinion on those?

If your running stock springs I don't think adjustable struts are needed. It would be over kill. I'd just throw on some GR-2's and maybe look into springs off a regular I30, they may bit a bit softer.

I agree. Adjustables are not needed unless you want a really firm ride. The Gr2's are probably the best option. I would just keep the stock T springs though. The springs from the non-T version are too soft in my opinion. If you switched to them your ride wouldn't necessarily be "softer", just more body roll. The new shocks will do a good job at giving you that softer but more controlled feel.

I am using stock T springs. When i say I want a smooth ride I mean I dont want to feel any bumps in the road. going over tar strips and potholes should go un-1noticed. I live in MN and the constant freezing and thawing of the roads makes them very uncomfortable.

Where can I get a set of Gr2s? And if I wanted some stock T springs?
