Frankencar intake

Has anyone noticed that your car falls flat on its face during hard acceleration with the frankencar intake? Is it because its sucking in all that hot air? Let me know if its just me or if others have felt it as well

thank you

don't have that effect at all. I don't have a frankencar, but it's a midpipe and they are all the same.

Also, compared to a CAI, the temperature of the air it takes in is only different at a stand still. Once the car is moving the temperature of the air under the hood is not much different than the wheel well.
A while back an org member did a detailed test on this measuring the air temp with a CAI and pop-charger.

Well I Took Mine Off Today And The Car Runs Alot Better And More Aggressive.. How Much Could I Sell The Frankencar For Its 2months Old?? I Was Told That My Car Could Be Getting Too Much Air And That Was The Cause Of My Car Fallin On Its Face Under Hard Acceleration.

1. Did you install it correctly. Any vaccume leaks?
.
2. I assume you have an auto? Your low end is not much to boast about anyhow, and a hybrid set up, like your Frankencar, gives it's gains high in the rpm band. An aftermarket intake on our cars don't do a whole lot. The gains are hardly noticeable on the butt dyno, if at all. The only place I could feel my intake make any difference was past 4.4K or 5k rpm's. Hybrids have been said to actually loose a tiny bit of lowend power, but not so much that the car feels like it "falls on it's face".

3. Myself and my maxima friend, Nealoc187, go to the track often. I run mid 14's and he runs very low 14's. We both use midpipes and I don't think putting the stock intake back on will help our times.

3. I'll give a $10 for your midpipe

what does "falls on it's face" mean?

and right now my RPM is acting weird.... after giving the gas little and let go of the gas my RPM drop really low and bouce back up....

does that mean my throttle body is dirty?

That could be many different things. Cleaning the TB won't hurt any.

I can think of a few things on a 4th gen that can be done to remedy the problem. I had an idle drop issue when comming to a stop at one time. I just hate to give advice on a 2002 when I honetly don't know a whole lot about them.

I am not really sure what exactly fixed my problem because I did a bunch of things at once.

Cleaned TB
Repaced PVC valve
adjusted base idle
*tried* to adjust TPS senosr, did clean it out though.
replaced fuel filter
replaced plugs (sure that had nothing to do with it though)

My problem was intermittent, and happend to not be acting up during the couple days I did all that stuff. But the problem did not return.

I have an idle issue at the moment but that has nothing to do with the previous problem. My IACV is my problem now.

I put a JWT pop charger on my '96 I-30t and felt some gain. After that I replaced the stock resonator with a Frankencar midpipe, and I have also been feeling like it actually hurt performance compared to the pop charger alone. So far, I've been too lazy to switch it back to compare.
