Crash photo #2
Mine is the black/black 1996 I-30t. It has 135k miles. Most of the damage is visible, though the car is not driveable because some part of the driver's side suspension/steering/stabilizer is busted. The half-axle is still in place and the manual transmission was not leaking any fluid after the collision.
So, do you think it's totalled? I have no idea. Just waiting for the other driver's adjuster to get out to the shop and do the estimate. (The other driver turned in front of me. She got the ticket.)

I'm sorry but I don't think anyone would pay $6000 unless they haven't done their research.
For a '96 I30t with 135k miles...you'd be lucky to get 6k even with no accidents. I've seen '97's go that low nowadays. Let's be honest, Infiniti's resale plain sucks.
Anyways, sorry to hear about the car. At least you weren't hurt.
On the bright side...you got a new car to look forward to.
Considering where the car got hit, I'd say it's going to be totalled. You'll most likely have significant structural damage at the a-pillar/firewall that would take a lot of time on a frame straightener to correct. That sucks to have that happen. Hand it to your insurance company and let them pay you. You'll have to pick up the deductable, but since it's going be totalled who cares? Let the attorneys from your insurance company go after her's. It's the fastest way to get back on the road again. Your rates won't go up since she got the ticket. This happened to me with my motorcycle this summer. Had I gone after his insurance company myself the bike would still be in the shop as we speak.
The insco is only offering me $5,140 for the car, totalled out. That seems low compared to all the online appraisal sites (KBB and Edmunds and Intellichoice). He says it's based on NADA with appropriate adjustments. The alternative is to take $4,340 and keep the car.
I'll probably list a JWT Pop Charger, velocity stack, and Frankencar mid-pipe for sale pretty soon. Looks like I'm taking the cash and buying a used Saab.

Tell them to take that offer and shove it up there ****. Read these links

And research what a similar I30s go for in your area. Only include the best examples. Nada doesn't mean squat if you can't get similar car for that price.

I have a 1991 SAAB 9000CD. SAABs are great cars, although they are very expensive when things go wrong. This is why I didnt buy another european (Enter the I30). If you want a fast SAAB, get a 9000 Aero. 225hp 2.3L Turbo. Very easy to mod to 280hp or more. Get a stick, it will last forever.
Things to look out for:
Blue Smoke from tailpipe- Bad Turbo- After test drive Put down window and reverse into parking spot to see if you can smell the smoke. Seals and bearings wear on a neglected turbo and oil leaks into the impeller housing causing the blue smoke.
I have heard of a few clutches going out so make sure it is shifting properly.
Ticking or tapping on right side (passenger side) of the engine especially on earlier models 86'-92'- Loose timing or ballance chain $2500 to replace
And lastly, Make sure it feels f***ing fast. ie you are getting all of yuor boost pressure.
Have fun!
Oh, this site may be helpful www.saabcentral.com Sorry, I don't know how to make a link.
Woha... looks like I can make a link.?

I said goodbye to my I-30t today. Got her used, but I put 90k miles on her myself. Black/black, 5 speed. Original Bose stereo. I really liked that car. I'm still negotiating the final payoff with the insco. Thanks for the claim links.
Thanks also for the tips on the Saab! I'm doing the final test drive Monday and will do those exact checks.
In the meantime, if anyone wants a cheap JWT Pop Charger and Frankencar midpipe, go to

Thanks. Loved this forum, but won't be around much anymore now that my I-30t is dead.
