newbie question - cylinder 4 misfiring

This is just a repair question. I need to figure out which cylinder is #4. I have a stock 99 i30 Limited 3.0 6cyl. Reason being is that I'm getting readings that the cylinder is misfiring. I was getting various readings so i changed the spark plugs (time for it anyway). Now that I'm certain that its cyl. 4, I'm need to change the ignition coil, next. Please help!!

Before getting a new coil, swap coil pack #4 with #2 and see if the misfire switches cylinders. Then you know for sure it's your coil pack.

The coil pack or the ignition coil? Won't switching the coil packs mess up the firing sequence? Also, do you where the best places would be to get stock parts...such as the ignition coil.

You can swap coil packs from cylinder 2, 4, or 6. Cylinders 1, 3, and 5 use different types of coil packs and will not work in cylinder 2, 4 or 6.

No, swaping coil packs it will not change firing sequence. When you buy coil packs you buy then for either the right or left side (or it might be front and rear bank, I can't remember) not for each individual cylinder.

Do you know of the best places to find stock parts, like the ignition coil?

I've found some for about $86.00 US. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks!!

I use the dealership when I had to purchased a coil pack. It cost me $95, but I needed it asap. I have heard that you can get them on ebay for cheaper, just make sure they are the OE coil packs. I believe 3 different companies made OE coil packs for I30's/maximas
