Fog Lights

piaa h3 super plasma. I have them on my 2k i30, it looks really close to hid. I also have the super plasma 9006(5) they are not sold here in the U.S. so you have to look for them on ebay. They do not have the same intensity as the h3's though.

Same exact thing I noticed on my 2nd gen I30. Found out the stock bulbs were 35 watt. Replace the bulb with a 55 watt and check the aim. You MAY have to work by filing or bending just a little bit of the ends of the metal of the 55 watt to make it fit. I put a 55 watt in my car for over a month and no problems with heat so far.

hey atom are your "super plasma" lights are they the 5000k ones? (if they are do they look blue at all?) Also isnt the 55w just the rating on the bulb, therefore our 35w system should be fine on a 55w bulb, but a 35w bulb on a 55w system would be phucked right??

I'm not sure if they are 5k or not (the package is all japanese). They don't shine blue at all it's more of a soft purplish glow. They are the closest to hid I've seen in a h3 bulb. I highly recommend them.

I prefer the RAZO bulbs for my high beams - the PIAA just was too blue (coating) to be bright enough. The RAZO bulbs look about the same as far as the coating, but there is no less light output, since they are 60watt as opposed to most others which are 55.
Try drilling down to "Lights" / "Bulbs" at www.imotorgear.com for PIAA, RAZO, Polarg, etc. bulbs. They have a pretty complete selection and pricing is reasonable compared to others I've seen on the 'net.

As I recall from other posts, all the I30's (i.e. 2001 and before) had 55watt bulbs
Anybody?

55watt vs. 35watt bulbs in fog lamps

As I recall from other posts, all the I30's (i.e. 2001 and before) had 55watt bulbs - and the wiring harness part # didn't change, so - WTH? They do get just a little warm - but certainly not warm enough to cause any harm.

Well, in any case - you can't hurt anything by 'upgrading' to 55 watt bulbs. I'm living proof that they work just fine and last a long time...
