Car was in second accident.... got me thinking

OK, my car was in its second accident in 3 months, both times never driven by me. This time my dad was driving in the rain, trying to park. As it turns out, he said the brakes did not work! He claimed that the pedal was all the way to the floor and it wouldn't stop. WHen my mom was in her accident with her car, she was coming up to a red light, and she also said the car wouldn't stop, and hit the truck in front of her. They both think something is wrong with my car...

The car as taken to the body shop to be fixed, and the brakes were checked... Mechanic said they were perfectly fine. I came home last night and drove the car, and it seemed fine.

Can there possibly be a glitch in which the brakes sometimes won't work? Has anyone ever heard of this? Or are my parents just

Did you change your brake fluid lately? I heard that if it is not done properly, the brake line may have air pockets in it!

The car was recently brought in for service about 500 miles ago for routine maintence (oil) and they check everything, including the brakes.

Edit: 500 miles, not 500k miles (big difference)

After 500K, it's due for another check!

Seriously, the problem could be the master cylinder. Was it cold when the brake failed (both times)?

Think it was about 45-50 degrees when it happened, not cold. The first accident was in the winter, but it wasn't freezing out.

Ok, one time I was driving in the rain, and it was pooring, and I was coming up to a stop sign, and my brakes seemed effed, I had to litterally jam them to the floor. The later they got all weird, and my steering wheel would shake violently as i broke. I replaced all 4 rotors and pads, with brembo x-drilled and slotted, as well as axis metal masters pads in back, and posi-quiets in front. Those were good at first, but there is still something wishy washy about my brakes. My car has been in 3 major accidents, 4 altogether. Although, none of which should concern the brakes. I'm almost done with my car, and the next thing that goes wrong, that will be it, but not that I don't love it, I just think it has about seen its day. .... well thats my 2 cents for the evening

I may be a traction problem. What do your tires look like? What Kind are they? I hope they are not the dreaded Potenzas.
