The A/C is making a rattling noise. It happens only when the A/C is on and the engine is under load (i.e accelerating or the slight lag during upshift while normally accelerating)

It doesn't happen at idle or it revs while in neutral at any RPM.

I have not looked at it (no time yet) so I don't know where it's coming from exactly. It sounds like bearings are bad in the AC compressor but that's just a feeling I have from listening and before looking at it.

It might even be that something loose but I'm rarely that lucky.

It still blows cold.

97 I30t, 104K miles, Auto

Does anyone have prior experience with similar (or other) AC problems and can you tell me what it ended up being?

Found the problem... The front srtut stabilizer bar was knocking against the aluminum A/C (high) pipe as it left the firewall.

Some minor adjustments and problem solved....

 

sweet! Glad to hear it was a minor thing! As I am sure you know any time you have a small noice or something odd, it seems to cost a freeking arma nd a leg! It is nice when it works out to be a little adjustment and you are on your way with cash in your pocket!
