Warning 95-99 I30s and Maximas' Suspension

Guys I just found out today right before I purchased my rear sway bar for my I30 that the I30 does "not" have a rear sway bar... it has a torsion bar/beam. I felt very stupid when I went to the Parts and service rep and asked them what is the diameter of the "stock" rear sway bar for the 97 I30.. the guy gave me a dumb look, then proceeded to show me a picture of the rear end of a I30 (underside) I saw no sway bar, guy said... do you mean the torsion bar... the beam that's connecting from one end to another... and I replied with well I was misinformed. Anyways just to let all the other I30 owners.. we don't have sway bars >< And I was really looking towards this upgrade. I guess a rear strut bar is just what's gonna have to do.

Um many 4th-5th gen owners have installed an aftermarket swaybar from either Stillen ($) or Addco with great improvement in handling. So just because your car has a BEAM rear suspension, it doesn't mean it can't benefit from the installation of a rear sway bar.

I don't know if you realize this but your I30 is mechanicly indentical to the 4-gen maxima. So all mods including mod reviews and FAQs apply to your car also. Except of course some body mods.

Ehh... can you show me this on a picture, unless the service rep was being a ***** and didn't want to help me out I'd understand but honestly what I saw on a picture only showed a beam and the only sway bar was a front sway bar. So if anyone have a picture of under their chasis please link me.. or has anyone with an I30 purchased and installed a sway bar please reply.

Or can you "add" a sway bar? Cuz it seems as if there's no stock sway bar to replace it with..

Here is a pic of a 4-gen maxima (which as stated is the same as the I30) Again as I stated, there might/might not be a factory rear swaybar. But that doesn't mean adding an aftermarket one won't benefit you. It's much better than adding a rear strut tower brace.

Yes you can add a bar. One just has to look in the 4-gen faqs for more info.

Yea the rear strut bar does not do to much. I was expecting a big improvement but... However the front strut was a much needed add on.

the 4th gen does have a sway bar, but its inside the beam, its not thick enough to cut down on the swaying enough, so an aftermarket one reinforces it better.
