Installing Y-Pipe

Installing Y-Pipe
How hard is it to install a new y pipe like the cefiro comes stock with? What tools would be needed? From what I understand it would add about 30hp in the last 1000rmps but take a little from the midrange, is this true? How much power is lost from the middle band?

I took my Budget Y-pipe to a shop and got them to install it for me. It took a little over an hour. A friend could have helped me install it but it wasn't worth the aggravation. There may be a little torque lost in the mid-range but according to the dyno chart I saw on motorvate.ca it is negligible. The horsepower and torque gain peak at about 6200 rpm on a 4th gen with the red line at 6,500. I don't think it is just a placebo effect - I really notice more oomph above say 4,500 in 3rd gear and booted it yesterday when accessing the freeway and I was at almost 95 mph at 6200 rpm in 3rd (5-speed transmission) before I backed off and upshifted into 5th.

A y-pipe is not a stock cefiro part. An MEVI is a stock cefiro part and will cause a mid range power loss of about 10-15 lbs of torque but will add 20-30 hp at the end of the power band. Peak power will not change, just where you make the power will.
You don't sound very well versed in cars so I am going to have so say that an MEVI install is probably beyond you. It requires removing the intake manifold, a few coolant lines, the throttle body, and some wiring. A y-pipe install is much easier but can be a PITA if you run into rusted bolts. Both only require some basic tools such as a deep socket set with extensions
