Does anyone have a good idea of what holds the cupholders in place on the console? My cupholders are loose, and even though the spring clips seem to be clipping, everytime I try to open or close the lid, the thing comes loose... there is supposed to be something else holding it besides the spring clips, right? If so, what do I need?

 

Only spring clips. Strange, unless plastic tabs for those springs and/or pins/guides are broken.

 

umm.....What spring clips for the cupholders are you talkin about exactly?!? Our cupholders have no Springs, Hinges or Lids like the Maxima console, unless you did the swap and in that case, you're in the wrong forum to find answers?

Only thing I can possible think of that you're mistaking the Cupholders for is the Armrest? It's the only thing we got with a Lid and hinges with clips to keep it locked down from movin.

 

They have 98-99 Infiniti I30 (97-99 Maxima)... the cup holder has lids and BIGGER /Better than the 96-97 I30 (95-96 Maxima) cup holders

*edit* Yeah, I know the under-console needs cleaned, this wasn't always my car... *end edit*

 

i knwo mine a bit loose.. cause the little... ahh thing.. how to describe... its liek a little mini ***** thing that goes into a hole in the car.. (srry cant think of any other way to describe it) it goes into a hoel int hte plastic on the console.. and also there is thte little locking type spingy thingy.. but

it is loose cause the little "*****" like thing is broken..

mine is broken cause i tkae ou tthe cup hlder toomuch cuase its an ideal place to sotre ciggrets or anything else... cause my X-GF ... she didnt want me smoking.. so i hid the cigs there.. hehehe..

after reviewing the pic i see ur "*****" thing is okay.. you might try this.. i do it to all the cliping and lookcking thisn in my car.. put some electrical tape or thin sponge around the metal locking clip located next to the *****.. wrap it so the sponge or tape wont move up when ur inserting into the console... anyway... this will make it firm and keep for m rattle.. i hate tings that rattle.. specially when i pu thte music up or go on bumpy roads.. it makes the car sound so much older.

 

Are you serious?! Wow man, damn thats hot...they actually have REAL cupholders...Now it's either a choice of doing that swap or the Renault-Samsung Console swap... That's a tough choice...Hmm...

 

mines comes out to, it always did and i dont believe that it was ever secure i believe its meant to come out fr easier cleaning ie spills

Dude.. Renault-Samsung does NOT have real cup holder neither.. it's just two round hole to fit in the cup.. (small cup).. like the soda can.. and it won't fit any coffee warmer type or larger bottles.

But I can still get ya the dual Cefiro console to fit on the 96-97 i30's only

Well, I don't expect it to be completely secure, but as it is, if i try to open or close it, the whole thing just pops out. But it is just that the spring clips need to be extended out or something?

Yeah, Sy that's what I meant!! lol my fault...I thought the one you had WAS the Renault-Samsung, I forgot it was the Dual Cefiro one. Yeah, I don't remember if that one had real cupholders or not, but the armrest is the best.

ohhh i see .. srry.. hey sycefiro andother thing long as ur reading this thread.. u think you can get the dual halogen headlights.. remember we talked about hte glass one.. can u get hte dual beam.. dont worry about pattern.. ill modify that ...?

 

Looking at your picture, it seems that you are missing the center spring clip, i could not be seing well, but you're supposed to have three, one on each extremity and one in the middle (on top in between the two cupholders on your picture) if you're missing that one, it would make it a lot easier for your holder to slip out,
I know mine is missing one and it gets very annoying at times.
