from those figures its seems like 4th is where the Manual would really start to walk (if they start from a roll)
I think 1st gear ratio in the 5 speed max/I30 makes nearly useless with the torque of the VQ30

Try it with putting down 260lb of torque to the wheels

Tried racing my friends 96 I30t 5spd from a complete stop... before I could even get my foot planted in the gas I was already looking at his back end. From there it got even worse, as he just kept putting on distance. I gave up around 50 mph as he was already 5 car lenghts ahead of me. I cant imagine what it would look like if we went to 95 mph.
We also tried it from a roll. 40 mph, I was in 3rd and he was behind me by 2 car lenghts. He went for a pass so I slammed it into 2nd and floored it. It was to no avail... he passed me with ease. I didnt have **** on him.

most v6 cars nowadays have over 220 at the crank and a lot more than ours at the wheels...
it seems that other than forced induction, intake, ypipe, and catbacks, etc...
i mean sure it's nice to be able to spew exhaust on a mustang once in a while...but personally im sick of losing to these new 4-bangers and such...(RSX-S, Scion 5spd,etc...)
maybe the i30 really is supposed to be a grandma car...
i love my car...and i really need some encouragement from you guys...cause even my max driving friend has no faith in me..

It's not enough to really tax the engine or tranny, if properly installed, but it's enough to give you a leg up. For instance you would no longer have any losses to an I35 or a pre-2005 Mustang GT (I know because a Zex 50shot is what I had on my 2000 auto Maxima and I raced multiple stock GTs, always tying or coming out slightly ahead).
You could also drop another $500 and get a Budget/used exhaust and CAI. And another $600 on top of that would get you a VB mod and high stall torque converter. Your car could feel mighty peppy for about $1600 (+200 in installation costs). I eventually added these same options to my Max too. I really enjoyed it, and it did feel MUCH quicker.

i guess i grew outta the speed phase of my life though so yeah...no need for speed mods anymore...
i wont spend any penny on anything other than safety and maintenance til i get my college is settled...
screw being fast...there'll always be a car faster than mine...
knowledge is something i can never lose...
