WARNING!! CAI users!! Scary morning!!

O.K., got my new starter put in today. All is fine and good until I try to go over 30 mph. I push on the gas and it sticks then goes full throttle on the main road through town. I stand on the brake and that brings me down to 10 mph, shift into neutral which slows me down but the engine is screaming like he11, put it back in drive and lay some serious rubber, stand on the brake to get into a parking lot and call my car guy. He comes out, we pop the hood. When he put the CAI back on after installing the new starter, he put one of the clamps in a slightly different position and the throttle got caught on the clamp. Scary as hell people!!! Hope this may help avert a problem for someone out there!!!

Damn dude, that must have sucked. Even though you came out ok, I would've been bummed out on the abuse the car went through. Good thing no one got hurt.

I had a sticky throttle on my old car 96 taurus after the engine was swapped. The guy put a piece of plastic that covered the throttle body on wrong and it caused it to rub against it..I went home and found the provlem and removed the piece and it freed up the wire.the pedal stuck to the floor and I was able to jab at it a few times to get it back up.. Well its nice to know this car has drive by wire throttle so this isnt even possible.

This is actually a common problem with any aftermarket intake. This is probably the 5th or 6th time I've read about it being an issues. The mods oughta make a sticky disclaimer threada bout intakes.

Not when you are not terribly mechanically proficient. I get the gist of lots of the things I have had done but not sure I could do it myself. Working weekends and usually 6 days a week I can't really be without my car for very long.

A starter motor replacement takes only 15 min. to replace. 2 Bolts, a nut, and a connector, and youre done. Some people pay hundreds of dollars in labor alone to have a mechanic do it.

ive neem having some problems latley while taking a turn pretty slow under 15 miles an hour my car shut off right before it did my rpms went down dramatically below 400 rpms and my system was going so i think my alternator just couldnt run the electronics on my car so i popped it neutral started to back up and shoved it into drive and it was scary cuase i had no power steering and no power breaks. it happened again today while i was trying to park except i saw it happening and i floored it and it kind of stalled then kicked back in and i almost hit a car cuase i had no power steering for a breif second. what is the cause of this. i just installed a 2 farad cap. so it wasnt draining a lot of power from my battery when my system hit. what could be the cuase of this?
