Trunk Lid

Hey guys... I had a question about my trunk lid. When I use either the remote or the button on the inside to open the trunk it makes a clicking noise and it opens but it doesn't pop up or anything. I literally have to go lift the trunk lid up. It doesn't move at all just makes a clicking noise. Could some springs or something in it need replacing?

yea i think that the hydrolic system that is involved in giving ur trunk a push is not working properly.. i suggest u got to ur infiniti dealer and check it out...

I have the 1997 t version ...and used to have the 2000 Limited version.

The t version (with the spoiler) has a heavier trunk lid and the (mine has a spring system, not hydraulics) same thing happens to it.

I found that in the summer, the seal around the trunk that makes contact with metal, gets pretty sticky and I have to pul up on it pretty hard to get it open, even after using the fob, interior switch or key hole.

I've cleaned it with dish soap and then dressed it and the metal contact area of the trunk in silicone afterwards and it solved the stickiness ...but again, it never has raies itself due to the weight of the spoiler.

The 2000 Limited (I think) had hydro struts on it and it would raise itself up a bit with no problem, though I never owned it during the summer & it had no spoiler.

This is normal. Some cars pop it up a little... Not so on this one.
